When the slide opening is small, a vacuum is created which draws fuel upwards via the Mixer Tube. While the Mixer Tube and Needle determine the amount of fuel, the Throttle Slide controls the amount of air that is added. The cylindrical Throttle Slides in the DELL'ORTO-PHB series have cutaways of different sizes for this purpose: the larger the cutout, the more air enters the mixture and the leaner it becomes in the corresponding area. DELL'ORTO Throttle Slides for PHBL carburettors (30-60) and Sliders for PHBH carburettors (30-70) are available in the range.
