The S.I.L. (Scooter India Limited) company obtained the original Innocenti scooter production tooling in the early seventies and they promptly began producing their own Lambrettas in India until the late nineties. They still produce spare parts at their factory which are usually the only alternative to used components.

There are three different Kickstart Shafts for Lambretta models in the LI 1-3/SX/TV DL/GP series. The easiest way to identify them is by the model years in which they were manufactured:

through 1962

1962–1965

From 1965

The two early versions differ primarily in the gear teeth for the Kickstart Lever. Some manufacturers therefore offer only one type of Shaft for models built up to 1965.

The Kickstart Shafts from 1965 onward are slightly sturdier and are recommended for all tuned engines. They can also be installed in older engines. However, this requires machining the chain cover or replacing it with a more modern chain cover.

Depending on the manufacturer and the combination of Cap and Shaft, different modifications may be required. We therefore recommend using a modern chain Cap (or one from 1965 or later).
