The S.I.L. (Scooter India Limited) company obtained the original Innocenti scooter production tooling in the early seventies and they promptly began producing their own Lambrettas in India until the late nineties. They still produce spare parts at their factory which are usually the only alternative to used components.

There are three different Kickstart Shafts for Lambretta models in the LI 1-3/SX/TV/DL/GP series. The easiest way to tell them apart is by the model years in which they were used:

through 1962

1962–1965

from 1965 onward

The two early versions differ primarily in the gear teeth for the Kickstart Lever. For this reason, some manufacturers offer only a single, universal version for models up to 1965.

The Kickstart Shafts from 1965 onward are more robust and are particularly recommended for engines with increased power. They can also be used in older engines. However, this requires adjusting the chain cover or replacing it with a later version.

Since different adjustments may be required depending on the manufacturer and the combination of chain cover and Kickstart Shaft, we recommend using a modern chain cover or a version from 1965 or later.
