Note: The Ignition Coils in earlier models were made from an early type of fully synthetic plastic. The technical term for this material is phenolic resin.

Phenoplast is a thermoset based on phenolic resin. The material is electrically non-conductive and is usually black or red. However, as it ages, it can become brittle and break.
