Difference from Conventional Variators

In the J. COSTA Variomatic, the Variator Rolls have been replaced by sliding weights that move the Variator along linear raceways. This system is simple and highly effective. The linear raceways of the sliding weights are the key advantage of this variator system. Compared to the standard Variator, the J. COSTA offers, on the one hand, a shorter gear ratio in the lower RPM range for better acceleration and, on the other hand, a longer gear ratio when the sliding weights have reached their outermost point and the V-Belt Pulley is closed.
