Repair Sheet Floor Boards and Legshield Repair Sheets for Vespa Models. Suitable replacement plates for rust, accident and cut damage to the frame.
Most used Vespas have rust damage or dents on the Legshield or Floor Board. This not only looks unattractive, but can also be safety-relevant and can be objected to by the TÜV. In the past, such sheet metal damage had to be repaired at great expense by coachbuilders. Nowadays, suitable replacement panels are available for many scooter models and types of damage.
Repair Floor Boards for Floor Board and Legshield
Repair Sheet Floor Boards differ depending on the Model in width, Struts, number of Reinforcement-X, cut-outs for Cables, Grommets and sometimes for the Brake Pedal. Some smallframe Plates already have the X or K Struts welded on. All Plates have the beading for the Beading and are supplied unpainted but oiled. They are available in various lengths, some of which are already bent. Longer Plates can also be used to repair damage underneath the Mudguard: 70 cm extends to around the middle of the Mudguard, 90 cm to the lower edge of the Horn Cover. There are also tabs or cut-outs for the cable duct, although these may be missing on cheaper models.
Two variants are available for PX/T5 models: for model years 1977-1979 up to chassis number 100000 and for models from 1979 onwards. The difference lies in the shape and position of the lower Strut. Up to model year 1979 it is narrow and straight, from 1979 it is wider and L-shaped with open ends so that water can run off. This is particularly interesting for original repairs. There are also variants with pre-drilled holes for the tread strip rivets. The longer Premium Repair Sheet Floor Boards have a round hole for the Brake Pedal up to model year 1983 and a square cut-out from model year 1984 onwards.
Quality, fit and complete Repair Sheets
The range includes Floor Boards from small Italian forges, including CUPPINI and BOSATTA, as well as Plates from other manufacturers in premium quality. This makes it possible to compensate for supply bottlenecks. Cheaper manufacturers are often less precise when it comes to widths, Struts and designs. Plates should therefore always be checked for a perfect fit before welding.
The premium version is the Repair Sheet Legshield & Floor Board. This allows larger repairs to be carried out and old "Why don't you cut it down" sins to be rectified. This saves a great deal of filling, dengeling and welding work. Some of these Plates are supplied without Struts.
The SIP Repair Sheet Legshield & Floor Board for Vespa 50-125/PV/ET3 is available in a thicker quality. Plates have a thickness of 1.0 mm and are very easy to fit. The version for Vespa 50 Special also has the slight frame elevation for the Horn Cover on the front apron, but is otherwise identical. Both Plates can be fitted to all classic Smallframe Models. Mounting Plates for the V50 Special Horn Cover and a Gasket for the Brake Pedal are also available as Replacement Parts. The hole for the brake pedal has been extended to 35 mm so that both round and square Brake Pedals can be fitted.
When carrying out a repair, we recommend installing the entire Legshield and not just sections of it, as the widths may have tolerances due to the bends.
Note: Suitable Repair Sheets for the Horn Cover and numerous other Repair Sheets are also available for many models.
Conclusion: Cut out the old Plates, weld in new ones, fill, prime - and the Vespa is clean again.
SIP TIP:
- Order new Floor Runners, Beading and Repair Sheet Horn Cover at the same time. Riveting Tool and Flange Tool are helpful during assembly. Don't forget the Badges and PIAGGIO Emblems.
