The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride (DGR) brings together motorbike and scooter enthusiasts from around the world who favour classic and vintage vehicles to generate both funds and awareness for prostate cancer and men's mental health research.

The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride was founded in Sydney, Australia in 2012 by Mark Hawwa. The inspiration for the Ride came from a picture of Don Draper from the television series Mad Men, where he is seen wearing a fine suit and riding a classic motorbike. Mark had the idea that a themed ride could be an effective way to change the often negative stereotype of men on motorbikes, while uniting diverse groups of two-wheeled enthusiasts. Even though it is an action for men's health, women are welcome and plentiful at the event.

According to its own statement, the DGR has raised 37.5 million US dollars in donations with 340,000 participants in 121 cities worldwide since its inception.

In the capital of Baden-Württemberg, plenty of donations were collected on 21 May 2023. On a beautiful, sunny day, 378 participants, including many scooter riders, set a new record: 21,575 Euros were collected for the Movember Foundation. That is 5,500 euros more than last year.

Since 2016, Movember has been the official charity partner of the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride. They work together towards a simple goal: to unite people and improve the state of men's health. The funds raised by DGR help to further Movember's efforts. These focus on two of the most serious challenges facing men worldwide: Prostate Cancer and Mental Health.

SIP Scootershop donated some prizes for the raffle and Martin A. and Maria R. were happy about the prizes. Ride host Alexander Minx thanked us for our support and we will be happy to participate again next year.
