If you restore a long neglected Vespa motor then you will often find the crankshaft immobilised due to rust or corrosion. The bearings and oil seals are often worn out and woodruff key recesses are no longer serviceable. If you are overhauling your motor and your existing crankshaft displays any of these signs of age, it should be replaced.


We have high quality standard crankshafts available that are made in Italy. MAZZUCHELLI and TAMENI, both based near Milan, have been delivering premium quality Vespa crankshafts with excellent value-for-money, for decades. They are 100% identical to the originals in appearance, production quality and port timings. Additionally the TAMENI have an extremely good pre combustion compression. TAMENI have specialised in the production of standard crankshafts for the earlier models of Vespa up to and including 1951. These are made in small production runs and have proven their merit countless times with the finest production quality, quietness and value-for-money.


Over the years PIAGGIO have used both low and high primary compression crankshaft setups. The early models also had bronze bushes instead of bearings installed on the con rods of their crankshafts. We have categorised the crankshafts according to manufacture information and original PIAGGIO parts catalogues. We provide all the specific data, necessary to identify the particular details of exactly the item you require for your type of engine: Ø gudgeon/crank pin, conrod length and stroke. SIP-TIP: New crankshaft bearings, oil seals and the suitable woodruff keys, gasket set, nuts, safety washers are a must. To make the job a lot easier we also have all relevant crankshaft assembly tools available at our shop (PART No 27338000, 21071000, 18119000).

This high quality crankshaft is equipped with a reinforced con rod including a big-end bearing and additional lubricating openings surrounding the small-end bearing. These important upgrades make the crankshaft more suitable for achieving higher revs from the motor, less fuel-oil necessary in the fuel and a much smaller chance of suffering from a big-end seizure!
