Vespa continues to carefully develop the mega-successfulVESPA GTS model range. The2019 model year, presented this week at the EICMA trade fair in Milan, brings 5 versions: Vespa GTS, GTS Touring, GTS Super, GTS SuperSport and the brand newVespa GTS SuperTechwith colour TFT speedometer and theVESPA MIA connectivity platformfor smartphone. Engines include the proven 125cc/150cc i-Get single-cylinder engine and the new 278cm HPE (High Performance Engine) power unit. With 23.8 hp (17.5 kW) at 8,250 rpm and 26 Nm (5,250 rpm), it is the most powerful engine ever offered in a Vespa. At the same time, fuel consumption figures have been reduced, with Vespa stating 29.4km/litre according to WMTC standards. The engine has been wrapped in a new sound-absorbing casing, and the variator, V-belt, cylinder head and camshaft are completely new. The Magnet Marelli MIUG4 ECU engine management system is the latest generation and is already compatible with the future Euro 5 standard.
The design has evolved in details. Front headlights and rear lights are now completely converted to LED technology. The cascade has been redesigned and is somewhat reminiscent of the front of the Vespa Sprint. Handlebars, rear-view mirrors and side bonnets have been slightly modified and give the GTS a somewhat slimmer appearance.
