Vespa Heaven in South Tyrol

Creado por Dietrich Limper a las 13:09 el 27 de septiembre de 2021

The little town of St. Vigil in South Tyrol cannot offer a night in the Amber Room. But for us Vespa riders, there is an accommodation there that makes many dreams come true: A room at the Hotel Al Plan, which is completely dedicated to Piaggio's cult two-wheeler. A V50 cutaway engine can be studied under a side table. Luggage racks serve as bedside tables, the decoration consists of frames, side covers, historical posters and a display case with Vespa models from all eras. An all too familiar Vespa green dominates alongside wood and leather. The view from the balcony towards Kronplatz (2,275 m) is priceless, which cannot be said of the room. The prices are acceptable even in the high season. So if you ever want to spend one or more nights in Vespa heaven, you can do it here on the edge of the Dolomites. (And of course there are many other rooms with a certain look: e.g. Harley Davidson, Ducati, Fiat and many more).

Directly attached to the hotel is a museum. The owners Theodora and Maurizio have been collecting high quality objects for years: Clocks, coffee grinders, masks and more. But that's not all, there are also 17 historic Vespas to admire. Two-wheelers from Moto Guzzi, BMW or Harley Davidson complete this section. Next to them are such rare vintage cars as a Fiat Topolino A from 1947 or a Lancia Delta Integrale MARTINI.

And if you want to take a longer tour over the nearby passes to picturesque viewpoints, you can even rent a Vespa: Available are an ET4 125 cc, a Primavera 125 cc and for the short trip through the town one can test a Vespa Elettrica 50 cc. The Trebo family of the Hotel Al Plan in San Vigilio really has a heart for scooter riders, even offering their own towing service in case of emergency and assuring: "We're faster than the ADAC!"

We wish two-stroke dreams.
