Standard variators are designed for low-cost mass production, so it is obvious that there is still potential for improvement. With sport variators, the available power can be better transferred to the rear wheel, improved acceleration and often also higher top speed are the result. KOSO has put a lot of development work into their variator kit, the result is a vario that delivers the optimum in acceleration and top speed.
Perfectly tuned for Modern Vespa
The range of application of conventional sport variators usually refers to the respective engine type, which is of course not only used in the Vespa, but also in other PIAGGIO vehicles. However, due to its own weight, the Vespa actually requires special attention. KOSO has focused on the Modern Vespa and has developed and tuned its Vario specifically for the 125cc and 150cc models. The hardness of the counter-pressure spring, the choice of vario rollers and the angles of the vario and pulley tracks are optimally suited to the Vespa Primavera/Sprint.
Black Edition
Although you can't see the variator and the pulley once the cover is on, KOSO has deliberately made them a Black Edition. On the one hand, because you still have a good feeling when the vario looks nice, on the other hand, because the special coating minimises the friction of the vario rollers. As a result, the rollers glide better in their tracks and wear is minimised.

- The nut of the pulley should be changed when replacing the Vario.
