The pulley discs of the Variomatic transmission are replacement parts that wear, similar to brake pads, roller weights or drive belts. Often the drive belt can cause grooves to be worn into the inner flanks of the original pulley discs, resulting mainly from stop and go riding in urban conditions. These grooves can be compared to ruts on the street, with the drive belt hanging their instead of gliding smoothly further, resulting in a noticeable power-dip while accelerating. This makes it essential to check these surfaces for wear during every service and prior to every tuning upgrade to a sport-orientated Variomatic unit. If they are damaged or worn they also require replacement.

The MALOSSI 'Ventilvar' variator pulley discs do not only represent a worthy replacement for the original type. The Italians designed their 'Ventilvar' to be lighter than the original part and its inner drive-belt contact surfaces hardened to be more enduring than the originals and have a different operation angle to improve the function of the CVT.

SIP-TIP: When servicing or upgrading the transmission the holding nuts for both the Variator and clutch pulleys should be replaced with new items. Do not forget to order the correct de/mounting tools!
