The 125cc displacement class is traditionally a very popular class, as it serves as an entry-level class for individual mobility for 16-year-olds, among others. In some countries, 125cc two-wheelers can also be ridden with a car driver's license. Since 2020, there has also been a regulation in Germany that allows holders of a car driver's license to add 125cc two-wheelers to their license with a few driving lessons. A good reason for many to convert their Vespa to this displacement class.

Unfortunately, it is not easy to create an expert opinion for the conversion from 50cc to 125cc. After 1.5 years of testing and research, we have managed it in cooperation with our partner at GTÜ. With this kit it is possible to officially register a 50cc Vespa Smallframe as a 125cc. Of course, it is also possible to equip 80-125cc smallframes with this kit to make them road legal.

The Cylinder

At the heart of the Tuning Kit is a powerful cylinder from SIP PERFORMANCE. It offers 125cc displacement combined with a very modern cylinder layout. The 6 channels have a modern layout and large cross-sections. The head is 8-fitting, and a high-quality flat piston with 2 Piston Rings is used as the piston.

What is included in the kit?

The kit is comprehensive and includes all parts that are important for the performance of the Engine. From the Carburettor to the Crankshaft to the Exhaust. The Vape Ignition and the SIP Crankcase can be fitted as an option and are also listed in the parts certificate. They also fit the SIP PERFORMANCE Cylinder without any modifications. This is slightly wider. For this reason, the lowest cooling fin on the fan wheel side must be machined on some models. This problem is eliminated with the Vape.
