Tuning Chip E-Bike VOLspeed V4

A new tuning module for all e-bikes and pedelecs with GIANT Syncdrive Sport, Pro, Life and Core motors from model year 2017 to 2022. The new generation of modules from VOLspeed comes to the market with some important changes.

The VOLspeed V4 tuning module for e-bikes is suitable for the EVO, EVO-SG, CHARGE and PLUS displays as well as the ONE, DASH 2 IN 1-SG, ERGO-SG and ERGO2-SG control units. Many parameters can also be set via the display: Speed limit, control behaviour and wheel circumference. As before, the modules are installed on the drive motor so that they are invisible from the outside. The speed limit is no longer completely lifted, but even at 32 km/h, for example, you can still ride at a sporty speed.

The tuning module E-Bike VOLspeed V4

You can easily make all settings via the display on the handlebars. You can select a speed between 25 and 45 km/h using the arrow keys; the last value set is saved. When the bike is put into operation, the tuning is initially deactivated. After the module is switched on, the dynamic mode prevents the very abrupt downshifting behaviour at the speed limit. After start-up, speed, distance travelled and average speed are always displayed correctly. If the tuning module E-Bike VOLspeed V4 is removed again, the correct total of your kilometres travelled will still be displayed.

Note: To be able to use the module to its full extent, the display of the total kilometres and speed is essential. If you ride an e-bike without a display, you can use the Ridecontrol app.

Changes in the product range

Production of the following modules will cease after 31.05.2022:

• VOLspeed for Bosch V3, P/N 1144
• VOLspeed for Yamaha V2, P/N 1151

We recommend switching to these successor products:

• VOLspeed for Bosch V4, P/N 1233
• VOLspeed for Yamaha V3, P/N 1232

Note: The new modules are generally only suitable for e-bikes with a factory set limit of 25 km/h. The modules are therefore no longer suitable for youth e-bikes (20 km/h) and S-pedelecs (45 km/h). VOLspeed will generally no longer offer tuning for these bikes. In addition, the maximum speed with electric motor assistance is limited to 45 km/h for all new modules.

Mounting the VOLspeed Tuning Module

Due to its small size, the VOLspeed V4 tuning module is very easy to install on the motor. No cables need to be modified, the module is simply plugged in. Have a look at the instruction manual.

For installation in a you need an Allen key 2/2.5/8 mm and a Torx key TX20 / TX25 / TX30.

For installation in the Syncdrive Pro you usually need an ISIS crank puller, lockring tool for Giant/Yamaha PW-X, chain whip (optional) and chainring spanner (optional).

Note: The tuning module is plugged into the electrical connections of the engine. These are located in the upper area of the engine. Depending on the model, they are already freely accessible when the lower engine protection cover is removed. If this is not the case, the motor must be detached from the frame. On the Syncdrive Sport, Life and Core, the motor is attached to the frame with three screws from the left that can be loosened permanently. The Syncdrive Pro, however, is fixed with two screws each from the left and right. The right-hand bolts are sometimes covered by the chainring. The chainring often has to be removed for access. Either the chainring is detached from the spider or the chainring including the spider is removed. This requires a special tool and an ISIS crank puller to loosen the locking ring.

Conclusion: The VOLspeed V4 tuning module for Syncdrive e-bikes allows you to ride your bike at high speed with high quality.
