With the third generation of the popular VOLspeed tuning modules for most YAMAHA motors, the German manufacturer continues the success story for e-bikes and pedelecs. With two important and sensible innovations.

The speed of e-bikes and pedelecs can be increased with the VOLspeed 3 tuning module and the 20 km/h limit is a thing of the past. It is compatible with all displays, i.e. with the Sideswitch (Display A), Multiswitch (Display C) as well as the Display X. After installation, no PC or smartphone is required, all necessary settings can be made via the display. The VOLspeed 3 tuning module is invisible from the outside because it is installed directly on the drive motor. Just plug it in and go for a ride!

The VOLspeed 3 tuning module

The VOLspeed 2 tuning module is suitable for e-bikes with the motor types PW-X / PW-X2 / PW-SE / PW-ST / PW-TE as well as PW-CE of all model years (including 2022).

Note: Does not work with the old PW and the very new PW-X3 drives.

The functions of the VOLspeed 3 tuning module

An overview of the most important functions of the VOLspeed 3 tuning module for e-bikes, S-pedelecs and pedelecs with YAMAHA drive:

• Tuning can be switched on or off using the arrow keys on the control unit.
• After switching on, the downshift speed can be freely adjusted in the range 25-45 km/h using the arrow keys. The last value set is saved.
• Tuning is always deactivated after the bike is switched on.
• Setting of a "softer down-regulation behaviour" possible (dynamic mode). The otherwise very abrupt downshifting at the speed limit ("wall effect") is thereby significantly softened.
• Adjustment of the individual wheel circumference is possible.
• Always correct display of speed, distance travelled as well as average and maximum speed.
• When tuning is active, the remaining range calculation takes into account both the charge level of the battery and the selected support level as well as the current riding style/battery consumption.
• Correct total mileage of the bike even after removing the tuning module, as the kilometres are saved in the motor control by the tuning module.

Assembly

For the PW-SE / PW-ST and PW-TE drives you need an Allen key 3 & 6 mm and ideally a torque ratchet. For the PW-X drive you need Allen keys 3, 5 & 6 mm and also ideally a torque ratchet and a chainring spanner.
