MALOSSI is the best that the scooter tuning market currently has to offer in the area of engine tuning. It is therefore perfectly reasonable that MALOSSI has also given some thought to the area of suspension optimisation. For decades now MALOSSI have had their 'RS' series of shock absorbers produced by PAIOLI. The result is the almost unbelievably high quality and precision of these shock absorber units. MALOSSIs experience on the race circuits flows directly into the development of their products and it shows. This means that in addition to racing enthusiasts, everyday Vespa drivers can now access and benefit from these high end products. All this sadly without the TÜV seal of approval.
RS3 – The Starter: The RS3 can be seen as the introduction into the MALOSSI suspension component family. A special oil/pneumatic shock absorber for use at the front end. Built for the sporting street fighters amongst you: adjustable spring preload, white painted spring
RS24 – The Athlete: The RS24 is the evergreen of the range and one of the most wanted in the ESC and other racing series. Its compact design belies its high tech interior. The damping process takes place in two seperate chambers, one filled with gas, the other with oil. This ingeniuos solution makes the use of a seperate external reservoir redumdent. The spring preload is continous and the damping feature has 24 adjustment possibilities. With the PK conversion steering column, the shock will also fit into all classic smallframe models.
RS24/10 – The Racer: A level closer to the devil is the RS24/10. This oil/pneumatic shock absorber unit comes supplied with an external gas reservoir. Thermal stress can now be dealt with more effectively due to the increased overall reservoir volume. The result is a more reliable damping characteristic, over longer periods. Along with a continously adjustable spring preload and the 24 damping adjustment possibilities, the pressure of the unit is also adjustable.
RS24/10-R – The Future: Is it high end or the end of the pole? The RS24/10-R is the latest innovation produced by MALOSSI engineering. Thanks to the use of a special ergal alloy the aluminium components could be kept very low in weight. In addition the volume of the damper reservoir has been increased. Along with the already mentioned abilities of the RS24/10, the 'R' version also makes it possible for low and highspeed movement to be identified and dealt with separately. This extra is also known as the high/low system.
Helpful hint: Due to the external reservoir design of the RS24/10 and the RS24/10-R they can only be safely used in combination with a PIAGGIO ZIP or QUARTZ fork shaft assembly.
SIP-TIP: To use the RS24/10 don´t forget the steering column PIAGGIO ZIP part no. 5051700 and the adapter steering column part no. 13399331 or instead of that you can use a conversion steering column.
