A Vespa wheel hub enabling a 2.10” wheel to be mounted to a ZIP/ET-4 steering column.

The steering columns from automatic Vespa models are popular when updating or replacing the front suspension of vintage geared Vespa models. This provides a more modern suspension and riding performance. A major issue encountered is due to the 2.50” wheels used with the left-hand forks being wider than the 2.10” items used on most geared scooters, fitted generally with 3.00” or 3.50” tyres. This makes the front wheel wider than the rear, which is not ideal for the riding dynamics of the scooter.

The Italian component producer PLC have specialised their expertise for provide solutions to solve exactly these kind of problems. Especially where the project involves rapid exploration of country roads or race circuits...This is where Christian from PLC got involved and designed and produced an adapter that enables a 2.10 sized wheel to be successfully combined with the front fork assembly found on the PIAGGIO ZIP and ET-4. This makes an ideal pairing of front and rear wheels possible, even when fitting a modern steering column into the frame of a vintage geared Vespa.

The adapters can also be installed on a PX or PK fork. For this purpose PLC offers a specially manufactured hub. Art.-Nr. 56379910.

Conclusion: This adapter from PLC represents more than the icing on the cake of a race orientated suspension set up. It also counts as a real eye catcher, reminiscent of retro-styled wheels from the automotive sector.
