Modern aluminium tubeless rim with a classic look for mounting on vintae Vespas from the 50s and 60s.
Innovation in style, technology and safety. Now the closed 150 GS rim is also available as a SIP tubeless rim. The closed SIP aluminium rim has a diameter of 10"; as a sheet metal rim, this size was fitted as standard ex works on the Vespa 150 GS VS1-4 /VD1T/VD2T/VGL1T models. The star design was fitted as standard on the 150 GS VS1-3T/VDTS models. The 150 VGL1/VGLA/B/ GS VS4T models had the same design, but without the star design.

The one-piece SIPaluminium rims have a noticeably better concentricity due to higher manufacturing precision. This makes the handling more stable, to which the 10" diameter also contributes.
Why 10"?
The 10" tubeless rim serves on the one hand as an update for the models that originally had a rim of this design, but it is also perfect for converting a scooter from 8" to 10". The larger tyres stabilise the scooter's straight-line running and make it less susceptible to potholes or other bumps in the road.
The larger diameter (10") increases the overall gear ratio on 8" Vespa models. The standard tyre size is 3.50-10". This means that the gear ratio is approx. 10% longer compared to original 8" wheels. This means lower revs and higher top speed, ideal for lightly tuned engines, but even original ones will still pull up hills with these wheels without any problems.
Safety through tubeless tyres
In the event of damage, the double-hump tyre bed prevents sudden loss of air according to modern design guidelines; the air pressure drops slowly. Burst inner tubes are a thing of the past. Even a valve rupture or a flat tyre caused by the inner tube becoming trapped are a thing of the past. The valve is pre-assembled in the rim. The finish of the completely CNC-turned surface is perfect. Different colour variations are available, as well as a fully polished rim and a painted rim with a polished edge. Designed for the use of nuts SIP art.no. 87430000 (M8) or 87193000 (M10), if necessary order according to the installed vehicle axle.
Note: The clearance to mounted and engine parts should be checked before use. Especially when mounting on 8" models, we recommend the installation of a stiffer front spring, e.g. SIP art. no. 71110000. Many tubetype (TT) tyres may also be used as tubeless (TL). The mounting should be carried out by a specialist company, carefully and without damage (mounting irons and a suitable mounting surface are strongly recommended). Do not damage the surface under any circumstances! Tyres should only be mounted with the tyre mounting paste intended for this purpose. Never use oil or other lubricants, otherwise the tyre will lose its secure fit during operation!
The original locking elements for the wheel nuts were simple snap rings according to the old standard. SIP recommends Nord-Lock washers with a wide contact surface >type NL10SP< (SIP Art. No. 80101000SP) which distribute the force particularly well. In combination with the specially produced SIP wheel bolts M8 and M10 of higher strength, this results in a high-strength, worry-free connection. Washers and screws are not included but are available as accessories: black (87193BG0), galvanized (87193SG0), nickel-plated (8743NI00) and even patinated (8743NI0P)
Conclusion: Innovative rim in classic design. Noticeably smoother running and improved handling. Greater choice of tyre types available. Precise workmanship, high-quality finish and modern safety level. This product has successfully passed our long distance and endurance test!

The best setup - our SIP TIP:
- The SIP Classic tyre matches the profile of the old Vesps perfectly. It can be mounted tubeless and is approved for speeds up to 150 km/h.
