Product description

The big brother of the 135er is a cylinder with power reserves for problem free daily usage. Other than the small DR, the 177 definitely gets performance in higher rev ranges due to it's two auxiliary exhaust ports. This makes it a dependable companion through it's relative low compression. When the 3rd cylinder transfer port is blown (gasket), the DR can be also be driven on engines with 2 transfer ports. It also gets a respectable performance increase. With using the POLINI head and adapting the cylinder transfer port to POLINI 177 dimensions, the 177 gets more power, but won't be completely indestructible.

The OLYMPIA 177 is identical to the DR 177er, and is a very good alternative if the DR if not available.

Conclusion: a top all round cylinder with great long distance qualities.

 

Cast Iron/ 63mm Bore/ 7 Transfers/ 177.68ccm

Cast iron cylinder, 57mm stroke, 7 transfers, pistons with 2 piston rings, exhaust with additional auxilliary outlets, original DR cylinder head and gasket set included in delivery. The crankcase will not need modification in the first step, jets and ignition should be checked and optimized. Models with elestart will need modification of lower cooling fins.

 

SIP-TIPP: Adjust jets and replace spark plugs(W4AC), both an absolute must, ignition setting circa 19°, Harmonizes well with 24/24 Si, Italian racing exhausts/SIP ROAD, longer transmission and racing crankshaft are recommended. 28er carb and SIP / JL Racing exhausts are the DR's innermost desire!

A powerful, high quality alternative to the more usual 2-transfer port cylinders available are our reworked OE PIAGGIO VESPA PX125/150cc cylinders, as well as the even more powerful 2-port version of the 177cc cylinders produced by POLINI and DR. The boost ports of these cylinders have been sealed and the transfer of fuel gas is provided by the ports of the same name, located on both sides of the bore. No further modification of your crankcase is necessary for immediate use of these cylinder kits, making them the ideal plug and play tuning option for all VESPA 125 VNB/GT/GTR/150 VBA/VBB/GL/Sprint/T4 and Super models. If your crankshaft has a bush, instead of a bearing at the small end, it will also need replacement.

Conclusion: Attractively priced cast iron cylinder, ideal for your daily runabout. If you wish, this cylinder can easily be further tuned with the addition of a 24mm carb, a reworked inlet port, a race crankshaft and a SIP Road exhaust.

 

SIP-TIP: For added power and reliability for your touring setup a race crank, expansion chamber exhaust, 24mm carb and an electronic ignition kit from VESPATRONIC can be included.

DR ZYLINDER

Das zylinder und der Kopf mußten etwas bearbeitet werden, scharfe kanten etc. Ansonsten super zu montieren und in Verbindung mit einer Rennwelle absolut zu empfehlen. Fahre ihn jetzt schon länger, ohne Probleme.
