It all began on July 10, 1994 at the Scooterrun Filty&Sly in Aachen. We were on our way to Aachen with our Vespa street racers until the crankshaft clutch stump broke after 100km and we later set off again by car. This time with a few special parts fitted to the racers on board. Selling them on the run was supposed to cover the cost of a new Crankshaft & Co. SIP was founded on the way back from Aachen....
A reliable Engine is the basis for every tour. Whether to the ice cream parlor, Aachen or Corsica. An original Engine is reliable, but with more power you usually get to your destination faster, have more fun in the mountains and overtaking maneuvers are no kamikaze insert.
The technical development of engine components now enables enormous performance with very good reliability. As part of SIP's 30th anniversary celebrations, we have put together a list of our current favorite engines in the various vehicle classes. They all have the same goal:
- Perfect performance: 33-35 hp
- High reliability.
- Plug&Play
The Engines are plug & play, i.e. the installed components are not modified before installation, but are installed in the condition in which they are delivered by the supplier. Engines are depressurized after assembly (to rule out leaks and false air). The carburetor assembly is tuned to 600 m above sea level (Landsberg am Lech / SIP) and tested on our test bench. If you are traveling at sea level, you should use a slightly richer jetting... Nevertheless, we cannot assume any warranty.
Engine registration in the vehicle documents is possible and has been carried out many times on our own scooters, but must be agreed with the local test center (TÜV, Dekra, GTÜ, etc.). Performance measurements in the download area.
The Engine SIP VR-One 30/30 244cc Reed Valve
The 200cc class is the favorite class of the SIP team. Almost every touring scooter is equipped with a 200cc Engine. Our current favorite is the 244cc Cylinder. High torque, reliable, high cruising speed possible. The 30-year-old engines are assembled in-house at SIP by Dennis, who rode one of the last SIP tours with a 48 hp MALOSSI set-up. So he knows what he's doing ,-)
The engine block
Crankcase MALOSSI VR-One with reed valve inlet, Reinforced. In addition to reinforcing the typical weak points of the standard housing (Input Shaft, 5-fold Fitting of crankcase, Swing Arm, Shock Absorber Seating), additional material was also deliberately planned for required areas such as engine sealing surfaces, transfer ports, Lima and cylinder base.
The Cylinder
Racing Cylinder VMC 244cc, aluminum Nicasil cylinder, 72 mm bore, 7 transfer ports, oval exhaust, 8-fold bolted Cylinder Head. Powerful, very wide power band and high torque. The Cylinder pulls very well, especially in the lower rev ranges
The Crankshaft
Bell-Shaped Crankshaft SIP PERFORMANCE Uncle Tom, Diaphragm shaft, Stroke: 62.0mm, Race Conrod: 127.0mm, finely balanced
The Exhaust
Racing Exhaust SIP ROAD XL Viper Box, black, EGT and Lambda connection, suitable for wide tires, wide power band and high peak power.
Intake Manifold & Carburettor
Carburettor KEIHIN PWK 35 Air Striker flat slide Race Ø 35 mm Engine connection: 42mm, Air Filter connection: 59mm, Main Jet 160, Idle Jet 48, Needle 48 DEK. Very good tunability and large selection of Replacement Parts. Reed Valve for Carburettor 360° rotatable, incl. 6 flap diaphragm.
The gearbox & Clutch
SIP PX Lusso gearbox. High-performance design made from high-quality materials. Z 57-42-38-36. Clutch SIP Race Supersport Z 24 for primary Z 62, standard Flange, straight toothed, 4 SIP Cosa pads, 6 Springs,
SIP VAPE Performance Ignition Sport with variable ignition timing, strong spark and stable Flywheel.

p.We actually only wanted 30 hp, but less was not possible ;-) Powerful, even pull in all gears. Smooth running and with a pleasant sound. Ideal touring engine that is also great fun on short trips.
