Product description

It all began on July 10, 1994 at the Scooterrun Filty&Sly in Aachen. We were on our way to Aachen with our Vespa street racers until the crankshaft clutch stump broke after 100km and we later set off again by car. This time with a few special parts fitted to the racers on board. Selling them on the run was supposed to cover the cost of a new Crankshaft & Co. SIP was founded on the way back from Aachen....

 

A reliable Engine is the basis for every tour. Whether to the ice cream parlor, Aachen or Corsica. An original Engine is reliable, but with more power you usually get to your destination faster, have more fun in the mountains and overtaking maneuvers are no kamikaze insert.

The technical development of engine components now enables enormous performance with very good reliability. As part of SIP's 30th anniversary celebrations, we have selected our current Favorite engines in the various vehicle classes. They all have the same goal:

  • Perfect performance,
  • High reliability.
  • Plug&Play

The Engines are plug & play, i.e. the installed components are not modified before installation, but are installed in the condition in which they are delivered by the supplier. Engines are depressurized after assembly (to rule out leaks and false air). The carburetor assembly is tuned to 600 m above sea level (Landsberg am Lech / SIP) and tested on our test bench. If you are traveling at sea level, you should use a slightly richer jetting... Nevertheless, we cannot assume any warranty.
Engine registration in the vehicle documents is possible and has been carried out many times on our own scooters, but must be agreed with the local test center (TÜV, Dekra, GTÜ, etc.). Performance measurements in the download area. 

The SIP EVO 30/30 180cc Engine by EGIG

Erich Oberpertinger, better known as EGIG, is a legend in smallframe tuning. SIP and EGIG are not only business partners, but also friends. It was therefore only natural that EGIG should build the smallframe engines for the 30th anniversary series.


The engine block
is based on the SIP Evo Crankcase PK125 3-hole for the large 20mm crankshaft stub in the black version. With plenty of meat on the transfer ports and intake for tuning. Reinforcement and durable design in the spindled version for 54mm Crankshafts.
The Cylinder

Racing Cylinder EGIG 180cc, specially machined, gray cast iron, 6 overflow ports. Ø 65mm, stroke 54mm, Conrod 117.0mm, oval exhaust. With its massive 180ccm  even  more torque than the 170cc
The Crankshaft
Full Circle Crankshaft EGIG with 54.0 mm stroke, 117mm race Conrod. 20/20mm Cone, finely balanced. High-quality Crankpin and Bearing.
Exhaust
Racing Exhaust EGIG Performance MAMBA S, unpainted, with XXL Silencer 70x280mm, 32mm Flange, stud spacing 54-60mm. The S stands for Sport and Silencer. Unfortunately not luggage compartment compatible!
Intake Manifold & Carburettor
Intake Manifold EGIG, direct-suction with 8-valve Reed Valve. The DELLORTO VHSH 30mm flat slide carburettor is an absolute top performance carburettor and specially tuned.
The gearbox & clutch
Clutch EGIG "One Finger Clutch", 5 Washer, 4-speed gearbox, EGIG Gear Selector EGIG with compact gradation of the individual gears. Very harmonious to ride, after each shift you land directly back in the reso and the acceleration orgy continues...
Ignition
SIP VAPE Performance Ignition Sport with variable ignition timing, strong spark and stable Flywheel. Special for the SIP 30th anniversary as Black Edition.
Mat Black brings you Back
Black with carbon is sporty and simply beautiful. That's why the Fanwheel, Crankcase, Kickstart Lever and Clutch Cover come in black, the Cylinder Cowling and Flywheel Cover even in real carbon.

Performance and assembly of the EGIG 180cc Engine

Power (measured at the rear wheel): 28-30 hp at 25-26 Nm. Until a few years ago, this performance could only be found on a few quarter-mile scooters at . EGIG is building us the street version for everyone for the anniversary. The 180 is the big brother of the 170 Engine. Even more powerful in all gears. Smooth running and with a pleasant sound. Sporty touring engine: Top for café laps or pass hunts, which is also great fun on short journeys.
The EGIG 180cc Engine fits into the V50 and PK frames without modifications; thanks to the unisex exhaust system, it also fits into chassis with a Glovebox under the left Side Panels.

Note: The Engine is delivered without Brake Drum and Brake Baseplate, because PK and V50 are different. Gearbox Oil must then be filled in.

 

Conclusion. Hardcore sports engine with an impressive 30 hp.
