The principle of operation of the XRP clutch is similar to that of a variator. Instead of the shoe linings and the clutch bell, there are small sliding weights in the clutch which, due to the centrifugal force, then form the contact with the calotte, whereby the frictional connection and ultimately the power transmission to the gearbox takes place.
