Product description
A clutch is not just one part of the engine, it is likely to be the most important part as it transmits the power between crankshaft and gearing. In order to be able to transmit more power, you need more friction within the clutch. Stronger springs will provide more contact pressure , more clutch plates will result in an enlarged frictional surface.
We are able to offer an extensive range of clutch plates, clutch springs and complete clutches. We have almost all of the big names in the business in our product range and provide a huge assortment of parts for almost every Vespa engine. All clutch plates can be combined with the reinforced springs that fit the respective engine type.
With the clutch plates, we distinguish between
Standard clutch plates: 3 cork plates, in most cases without clutch plain plates and springs. For original engines. RMS plates are budget replacement parts, PIAGGIO, NEWFREN, FERODO and SURFLEX plates come with a very high quality.
Reinforced clutch plates: 4 cork plates, incl clutch plain plates, often with reinforced springs. For lightly tuned engines. Mandatory stuff for everybody riding a larger cylinder or exhaust. The transmission of power will be improved. RMS plates are cheap replacement parts, PIAGGIO, NEWFREN, FERODO and SURFLEX plates come in very high quality. MALOSSI has the strongest springs included in the delivery.
RACE clutch plates: 4 plates made from a special carbon compound, incl clutch plain plates and reinforced springs. For tuned engines. The carbon part of the friction plates further improves the grip.
RACE EVO clutch plates: 4 plates made from a special carbon compound, incl clutch plain plates and reinforced springs. For tuned engines. NEWFREN has special plates exclusively made for SIP that have an even further increased carbon ratio in the friction plates. Dosability and durability are significantly improved.
SIP-TIP: A new woodruff key, clutch nut and locking washers are a must. Reinforced springs for the 3-friction plates set in tuned motors are recommended. Do not forget gearbox oil for an overnight soak before assembly! Reinforced clutch baskets and locking washers are a good add-on for stability at high revs. Please use the gear oil SAE 80W 90 with carbon clutch plates. Single clutch plates are good for combinations with different thicknesses. When changing the clutch plates, also replace the clutch washer disc.
