    Model leap ET to LX

The Vespa LX was introduced at the end of 2004. With the market launch, it became clear that this was the successor to the Vespa ET Models and that this series would be discontinued.

The meaning of the letters "LX" is based on the Roman numeral system and therefore stands for the number: 60 (L=50, X=10)

Presumably they were already thinking about the upcoming anniversary in 2006.

The special Vespa LXV model was presented just in time for the 60th birthday. With stylish tubular handlebars, a simpler, smaller speedometer element and the leather seat bench in the "Single Saddle look", the reference to the early models is visible and is intended to be reminiscent of them.

The following engines and harnesses were installed in the corresponding models and also gave the respective model its name:

    • LX 50 2T: 49cc two-stroke engine with Carburettor

    • LX 50 4T: 49cc Hi-PER four-stroke engine with constant-pressure carburettor and 2-valve technology

    • LX 50 4T 4V: 49cc Hi-PER four-stroke engine with equal-pressure carburettor and 4-valve technology

    • LX 125: 124cc Euro2 LEADER four-stroke engine with constant-pressure carburettor and 2-valve technology

    • LX 125 i.e.: 124cc LEADER four-stroke engine with fuel injection and 2-valve technology

    • LX 150: 151cc Euro2 LEADER four-stroke engine with equal-pressure carburettor and 2-valve technology

    • LX 150 i.e.: 151cc LEADER four-stroke engine with fuel injection and 2-valve technology

    • LX 125 3V: 124cc L.E.M. four-stroke engine with fuel injection and 3-valve technology

    • LX 150 3V: 155cc L.E.M. four-stroke engine with fuel injection and 3-valve technology

Based on the experience of the ET series, PIAGGIO continues to rely on its air-cooled engines and the now well-established CVT automatic transmission. In addition to numerous design changes, the choice of front Rim was also changed. Here, the familiar 10-inch had to make way and was replaced by the wheel size: 110/70-11 inch. The result is better rolling behaviour and more stable directional stability.

The Vespa S, which is based entirely on the LX, was also available for those who wanted something sportier. Only the Handlebar has a completely different design and its rectangular shape is reminiscent of the Vespa 50 Special from the 70s.

The last LX models rolled off the production line at the end of 2013 and were then replaced by the upcoming Primavera series.
