Overview Vespa LX

The Vespa LX was launched at the end of 2004 and was the successor to the ET series. With its classic design and modern technology, it was intended to continue the Vespa tradition. The designation "LX" comes from the Roman numeral system and stands for 60 (L=50, X=10), which was presumably intended as a reference to the upcoming 60th anniversary of the Vespa brand in 2006.

Vespa LX model history

The special model Vespa LXV was introduced for Vespa's 60th anniversary. This model was based on earlier Vespa models with open tubular handlebars, a simple speedometer element and a leather seat with a "Single Saddle" look. The LX series was available in various engine variants, including both two-stroke and four-stroke engines. In addition to visual adjustments, such as the changed rim design, Piaggio continued to rely on air-cooled engines and the proven CVT automatic transmission.

The Vespa LX was offered with a variety of engine versions:

• LX 50 4T 4V: 49 cc Hi-PER four-stroke engine with equal-pressure carburettor and 4-valve technology

• LX 125: 124 cc Euro2 LEADER four-stroke engine with constant-pressure carburettor and 2-valve technology

• LX 125 i.e.: 124 cc LEADER four-stroke engine with fuel injection and 2-valve technology

• LX 150: 151 cc Euro2 LEADER four-stroke engine with equal-pressure carburettor and 2-valve technology

• LX 150 i.e.: 151 ccm LEADER four-stroke engine with fuel injection and 2-valve technology

• LX 125 3V: 124 cc L.E.M. four-stroke engine with fuel injection and 3-valve technology

• LX 150 3V: 155 cc L.E.M. four-stroke engine with fuel injection and 3-valve technology

Compared to the ET series, the front rim size was changed from 10 inches to 110/70-11 inches in order to achieve better rolling behaviour and more stable directional stability.

Other Vespa LX

In addition to the LX, there was also the sportier Vespa S, which was technically based on the LX, but was reminiscent of the Vespa 50 Special from the 1970s with its distinctive, rectangular Handlebar. Production of the Vespa LX was discontinued at the end of 2013 and it was replaced by the Primavera series.

The special features of the Vespa LXV 2V 150

The LXV was developed as a tribute to earlier Vespa models and has a retro design. A striking feature is the open tubular handlebar with visible chrome pipes, which is reminiscent of classic Vespa scooters. This is complemented by leather-covered rubber grips and an analogue round instrument with a chrome-edged display. Another feature is the two-part Seat, which visually separates the rider and passenger seats, emphasising the vintage character. The LXV was offered in special colours. Originally available in "Grigio Avio", colours such as "Verde Portofino" and "Bianco Siena" were added later. A special edition was the "LXV Navy" with a body in "Blu Midnight" and a sand-coloured Seat.
