The first Vespa GTS 300 came onto the market in 2008 and was a success right from the start. It was a version of the Vespa Granturismo with a 300 cc Engine, which offered more power than the original 125 and 200 cc versions. This model series represented an important milestone in the history of the Vespa, as it marked the transition from traditional two-stroke engines to modern four-stroke engines. As the top model in the range, the GTS 300 had a displacement of 278 cc and 21 hp, characterised by darkened Headlight Units, analogue instruments and a Seat with white trim. The Super Sport was characterised by a matt paint finish, black rims, red shock absorber springs and a sports seat.
After almost five years without any significant updates, Piaggio decided to introduce an update for the model series in 2023 . This resulted in another milestone: the Vespa GTS 300 HPE version. This most powerful Vespa to date has a 300 cc displacement, 24 hp and reaches a top speed of 120 km/h with 26 Nm. But how did Piaggio achieve this progress? Although the design was largely the same as the previous model, with only a few changes such as a slightly modified Horn Cover, new Cylinder Heads with improved Camshafts were installed in the Model. These not only ensure quieter operation, but also produce less exhaust fumes and work more efficiently. This improved drive was referred to as the "High Performance Engine", or HPE for short.
A 278 cc 4-stroke engine with state-of-the-art petrol injection technology powers the Vespa GTS 300 i.e. Touring. Naturally, this Engine complies with the current exhaust emission standards. Vespa uses advanced injection technology and Catalytic Converters to minimise the environmental impact.
