In 2008, Piaggio launched the Vespa GTS 300 i.e. Super with a 278 cc Engine, which not only underwent a technical but also a visual redesign. The changes included black-painted rims, a more angular Front Cover without parking lights, a darkened Headlight Unit, analogue instruments, no Luggage Carrier as standard and a Seat with a white border. From 2009, the model was also offered with a 124 cc injection engine as the Vespa GTS 125 i.e. Super. Another variant, the GTS Touring, is characterised by a short windscreen and a front carrier and is equipped exclusively with the 278 cc Engine.
In 2017, the Vespa GTS was further developed and now offers extensive standard equipment, including ABS and ASR safety systems. Four models are available: Vespa GTS, GTS Super, GTS Touring and Vespa GTS SuperSport. The Vespa GTS Touring is characterised by its larger windscreen, which offers sufficient protection even at high speeds. It is also characterised by the front and rear Luggage Carriers which, together with the Helmet Case, offer extensive storage space. The Touring version is also characterised by a special logo on the Front Cover and is equipped with two Luggage Carriers. The GTS Touring is available in metallic red and metallic brown.
All 2017 GTS models are equipped with a four-stroke single-cylinder engine with electronic injection, which delivers 15.6 kW (21.2 hp) at 7,750 rpm and a maximum torque of 22 Nm at just 5,000 rpm. Piaggio was the first manufacturer to introduce electronic traction control on scooters, complemented by ABS, both of which are standard on the Vespa GTS 300 family.
