The VNB was introduced at the end of 1959 as one of the most frequently built models of the Vespa 125 and succeeded the VNA. The now slightly smaller Badge on the Legshield, the dark blue Single Seat and the Rear Light painted in the same colour as the GS 150 were the most striking features.
The frame of the VNB corresponded to that of its predecessor model, the VNA. The Rear Light, identical to that of the Vespa 150 GS (VS5), was painted in the frame colour on the VNB. The Single Saddle with adjustable Spring had a dark blue saddle cover and the Mounting Bracket for the passenger was covered in dark blue plastic. The Vespa lettering on the Legshield was slightly smaller than on the VNA and also in dark blue. The Flywheel Cover on the Engine was painted in aluminium.
A rectangular Speedometer with a white dial became standard equipment. The carburettor model changed to a Dellorto ST 20/15 C. In the course of the VNB2T series, the Battery was removed and the Rear Light was upgraded from 3W to 5W. Starting with frame number *09001 of the Model, a stand with a larger diameter was inserted, which was now fastened with four Screws instead of two. While the models with a Battery were fitted with a flower-shaped DC horn, the shape of the AC horn now used on the later models changed. Both were painted in black and blue. The rims, Suspension Arm and Rear Light were still painted in the same colour as the VNB1T.
The handlebar head was no longer divisible on this Model but, as on the VBA, was made of cast aluminium and fitted with a larger Headlight Unit (115 instead of 105 mm). The speedometer was slightly smaller, but retained its rectangular shape with a white dial and a display up to 90 km/h. The modified Brake Pedal, made of highly polished aluminium with pedal rubber, was also adopted from the VBA. Instead of the footrests on the centre tunnel, a mat with Decorative Trims on the sides was now fitted. Single Seat and Badge remained in dark blue. The front mudguard had a slightly different shape to the previous model and now had beading on both sides. The Rear Light was now chrome-plated, as on the VBB. The edge of the Legshield was edged with an aluminium slotted tube. The headlight switch on the Handlebar was chrome-plated and had a new shape.
At the rear of the bodywork, below the Rear Light, the shape for Seating the number plate was changed from round to square. This shortened the overall length of the scooter by 2 cm. On the rear brakes, the Brake Shoes were no longer attached to one pin in an overlapping arrangement, but mounted independently on two pins. The Side Panels were given highly polished Decorative Trims.
A 4-speed gearbox was introduced for the first time, with an overall ratio similar to that of the 3-speed models, but with closer ratios.
The studs and nuts for wheel mounting were reinforced from 8 to 10 mm, and the wheel nuts no longer had a weld. The Rear Light now corresponded to that of the Vespa 125 Super (VNC1T). The Badge on the Legshield was replaced by a thicker aluminium one with a completely different design. The Decorative Trims on the side bolsters no longer reached as far down at the front. The compression of the 4-speed Engine was increased from 7.2 to 7.7, resulting in an increase in power from 4.6 to 5.12 hp.
The frame numbers of the VNB1T ranged from *128895 to *131513, with the frame colour being Bavaria blue. Another characteristic feature of this Augsburg VNB was the VDO Speedometer with a display up to 120 km/h. In addition, the scarlet Headlight Unit and the gooseneck Rear Light from Hella, both products of German manufacture, were typical of this Model. The luxury version had Decorative Trims with Hella Indicators on the Side Panels and a two-colour Seat from Denfeld.
The frame numbers for the VNB3T started from *131514, and the frame colour was also Bavaria blue. Otherwise, this model corresponded to the Type 232.
Like its larger sister model, the VBA, the 125 was also equipped with a rotary valve-controlled Engine that could be operated with a 2 % petrol/oil mixture.
