The Piaggio TPH (also known as the "Typhoon" in some markets) is a sporty scooter that was introduced in the mid-1990s. Typically equipped with 50 cubic centimetre two-stroke engines, the model offers agile acceleration and manoeuvrable handling in urban areas. In later versions, larger displacements such as 80 or 125 cubic centimetres were introduced in some cases.
A defining feature of the TPH series is the robust, youthful design with wide Tyres and a higher Mudguard, which is based on an off-road concept. Added to this are a compact cover and a sporty riding position, which make the scooter popular with younger riders. Technically, the TPH relies on a simple but reliable design with Variomatic drive and - depending on the Model - Disc Brakes at the front. The Piaggio TPH has established itself in the light sports scooter segment thanks to its combination of sporty looks, solid handling and manageable maintenance costs.
