In 1962, Innocenti launched a new flagship model on the market: the Lambretta TV 175 Series 3. The design was based heavily on the Li models.
In 1962, the TV 175 Series 3 differed from the Li models in a number of key respects, particularly with regard to the Steering Head, Horn Cover and Mudguard. The new handlebar head had a hexagonal lamp trim ring and a trapezoidal Speedometer. The Light Switch was integrated into the Ignition Lock, with dipped and main beam as well as the Horn being controlled via a Switch on the right handlebar element. The front mudguard, made of fibreglass, had a more angular shape. The Horn Cover was characterised by a wider and flatter horn grille. The Tourismo Veloce 175 was a novelty in the production of two-wheelers: It was the first mass-produced two-wheeler in the world to be equipped with a front Disc Brake. This innovative brake, produced by Campagnolo, was internal, floating and mechanically actuated.
During the production period of the TV 175 Series 3, Innocenti made cosmetic changes. Instead of the Li Side Panels, the TV was soon fitted with those that could also be found on the Special Models. The Chrome Ring under the Handlebar was omitted. Production of the TV 175 Series 3 was finally discontinued in October with a total of 37,794 units built.
The Engine of the Lambretta TV 175 Series 3 has a displacement of 175 cc. A high torque is achieved thanks to the design of the Cylinder. In combination with the SH20 Carburettor, the Engine achieves an output of 8.7 hp and easily copes with the long gearbox, which was later also used in the SX 200. The Crankshaft has a stroke of 58 mm, which is typical of all Li Lambrettas except the TV Series 1, but the Model differs from the usual 107 mm by having a 116 mm long Conrod. Wider silent blocks were used to minimise vibrations.
TV Series 3 - First edition (from March 1962 to December 1963)
The Distance Pieces on the Side Panels are made entirely of Rubber. The TV 175 logo is emblazoned on a Sign under the Seat, set against a white background. A Speedometer Cable with a small square spindle was used until 1962. A four-pole Ignition System was used until September 1962.
TV Series 3 - Second Edition (from December 1963 to May 1965)
Use of Special Side Panels and Side Panels spacers, which now have a metal clip. The Badge TV 175 adorns the Sign below the Seat, this time on a blue background.
TV Series 3 - Third edition (from May 1965 to October 1965)
The Chrome Ring under the Steering Head is omitted.
