On 10 April 1957 , the new "Slimstyle" series was presented for the first time in Milan. The Lambretta TV "Turismo Veloce" 175 was introduced to trump the Vespa GS 150 in terms of both style and performance, and represented a major leap over its predecessors. The new TV was characterised by curved lines, the front Mudguard was fixed and did not turn with the steering as was the case on all previous Models. The beautifully shaped TV panels had slits at the front to help with cooling, and the rear floor panels for the passenger continued the flowing lines towards the rear of the scooter.
A standard speedometer in the Handlebar, which displayed up to 120 km/h , and levers for the Clutch and brake with adjustment options were standard equipment. However, these adjustment options were removed from production over time. In terms of suspension, new ground was broken with the introduction of larger, 10-inch Tyres, which improved both ride comfort and directional stability. This suspension configuration, consisting of internal Springs in the Fork and a hydraulic rear Shock Absorber , was retained until Series 3. Thanks to the separate rear Shock Absorber, the Engine could be lowered to facilitate maintenance work on the Cylinder. The Exhaust was fitted with a union nut, a detail that was later no longer found on any Innocenti moped.
The TV Series 1 was regarded as Innocenti's flagship model, but suffered from initial defects that nevertheless found their way into production and led to problems in the course of its operation. Anecdotes still circulate today about entire container loads of TV models being dumped in the sea off the coast of Sicily. This model marked a turning point in Innocenti's history and acted as a link between the early Models A to F and the subsequent Li family from Lambretta. With a production figure of over 150,000 units, the Series 1 proved to be a great commercial success for Innocenti.
TV - First edition (from September 1957 to April 1958)
The horn grille is permanently installed in the Horn Cover and cannot be unscrewed. On the first 1800 Models, the brake and Clutch Lever can be played to adjust the Cable.
TV - Second edition (from May 1958 to July 1958)
Horn Cover and horn grille are now designed as separate parts. The Ball Bearing in the maghousing is replaced by a roller bearing. A mud flap is added to the stand. An additional Locking Washer is added to the Nut of the rear Brake Drum.
TV - Third edition (from August 1958 to December 1958)
The option to adjust the brake and Clutch Lever is removed.
The Engine of the Lambretta TV was also completely redesigned. The power unit was now 175 cc (larger than that of the Vespa GS with 150 cc) and the stated power of 8.6 or 9.0 hp (depending on who quotes the figures) gave the TV good acceleration and a top speed of 102 km/h, despite the mass and width of the new Legshields. The TV had the largest Carburettor ever used in a Lambretta at 23 mm diameter and the longest stroke at 60 mm. The cylinder barrel was now in line with the rest of the Engine, horizontal instead of the earlier upright position, and with a bore of 60 mm Innocenti had built a machine with the "magic" square and bore configuration favoured by tuners of the time. The shaft drive used on all earlier models was omitted and replaced by a duplex chain.
