A few months after the launch of the Lambretta Lui 50, Innocenti presented the Lui 75 at the 15th Engine Show in Tokyo at the end of October 1968, which was available in two variants: 75 S and 75 SL. For the Italian market, all models bore the name "Lui", while abroad the 75 S was marketed as "Vega" and the 75 SL as "Cometa", presumably as an allusion to the "Space Age" era of the late 1960s.
The main difference between the 75 S and the 75 SL was the "Lubematic", a separate lubrication system that was inserted as standard for the first time on an Italian scooter. The most obvious difference between the two models was the Lubematic Sticker on the Tank and the corresponding Badge on the Legshield. Compared to the 50 cc variants, the 75 cc models had an improved electrical system that fed both the high beam and the rear Brake Light. Similar to the 50 S Models, the 75cc models were also equipped with a double seat and the Up-And-Over Exhaust.
The frame consisted of a tubular steel front section with bolt-on Legshields and a pressed steel monocoque frame at the rear. The front section consisted of a traditional tubular frame, while the rear section was moulded. The suspension comes from the Junior series. The Brake Drum is made entirely of steel for solid road grip. The mechanical concept was also taken from the Junior series.
Lui 75 S, SL - First edition (from March 1968 to early 1969)
The Lambretta Badge was located on the left-hand side of the Legshield, above the 50 C or CL models. The levers for the brake and Clutch ended without a ball shape, and a chrome-plated Grill adorned the area behind the front headlight.
Lui 75 S, SL - Second edition (from early 1969 to December 1970)
The Lambretta Badge was no longer to be found on the Legshield. Instead, a rectangular Lui logo was emblazoned in the centre of the Legshield. The brake and Clutch levers were now fitted with Ball ends, and the chrome-plated Grill behind the front headlight bore the Innocenti lettering. A small Innocenti logo was also found above the Lui Emblem on some models.
The Engine achieves an output of 5 hp and, thanks to the four-speed gearbox, enables considerable acceleration up to a maximum speed of 82.5 km/h. This raises the question of what exactly the bottleneck is with the Lui 50 C/CL models, which are limited to speeds below 40 km/h despite having only 25 cc less displacement.
