In October 1959, the Lambretta LI Series 2 was launched, accompanied by advertising slogans based on the proverbial "Lambrettability". This paved the way for Innocenti's next great commercial success, with the Series 2 becoming one of the best-selling models of all time with 270,000 units sold.
The most striking difference between the models is the integration of the Headlight Unit into the Handlebar. The Li 125 comes with a single seat as standard, unlike the Li 150, which also offers a seat for the passenger. Replacement Parts included both a rear Single Saddle and a double seat. A glance at the step-through also reveals differences in displacement: The Li 125 features aluminium rails with a waffle pattern, while the Li 150 has aluminium rails with grey rubber inserts and End Pieces for the Floor Runners.
Both the Rear Light and the horn grille underwent a change during the course of production; the Rear Light was made larger. The Rear Light Gasket remained white, and apart from the black Stand Feet and the Kickstart Lever Rubber, the rubber parts remained grey.
A few fine adjustments were made to the Engine, including the installation of a longer Cylinder and matching Piston. In addition, all models are equipped with an Air Intakes for the Carburettor, which was already used on the later Series 1 version.
