Innocenti introduced the Lambretta 125 E model in April 1953 and produced a total of 42,352 units. Designed as an entry-level model, the Lambretta 125 E was characterised by a much simpler design compared to the C or D models. The Lambretta 125 F was launched in March 1954 and 32,701 scooters were produced by April 1955.
The Lambretta 125 E Model had a C-shaped frame tube under the rider's seat. A toolbox was integrated within this C-shaped frame, the fuel tank was located under the front seat and a storage box for food was located behind the passenger seat. This simplified frame design made the frame lighter than its predecessors. An eye-catching large round Headlight Unit adorned the front of the scooter, while a smaller round headlight was mounted directly above the licence plate at the rear. Short Legshields, similar to those of the Model D, were also fitted. A pull cord, comparable to the starting mechanism of a chainsaw, was positioned in front of the magneto to start the Engine. The Model E's Ignition could be adjusted to make it easier to tighten the pull cord and prevent the Engine from "kicking back" when starting and potentially injuring the user.
The rear suspension of the E model was the same as the torsion bar suspension of the Model D, while the front suspension was replaced with an elasticated suspension, as opposed to the trailing arm system of the Model D. In this design, the Forks folded back on themselves, using C-shaped Springs with Rubber in between, allowing the suspension to open and lock. Due to the inadequate suspension, many owners retrofitted their models with a special kit that introduced an additional Spring between the Handlebar and Fork. Another modification concerned the Starter Cable, with many converting to the Model F's Kickstart Lever, which also required the Legshields to be shortened, as the F model's Kickstart Lever was fitted to the front of the Engine. These adaptations make the Model E a rarity today.
The Lambretta 125 F adopted the C-shaped frame of the Model "E", including the integrated toolbox, the petrol tank placed under the Seat and a rear storage compartment. Other features that the F model shared with the E model included the torsion bar suspension at the rear, the direct air-cooled Engine and the Side Stand fitted as standard; a centre stand was offered as an option. To reduce costs, this Model used pressed steel Brake Drum instead of cast aluminium. In the middle of the production period, a second version of the F model was introduced, which featured Forks similar to those of the Model D.
The Engine with a displacement of 123 cc in the Model E was basically the same as that of the Model D, with the exception of the Starter Cable, and allowed a maximum speed of 70 km/h. Production of the scooter ended in February 1954.
