In 1909, Giuseppe Gellera, who was running a workshop in Milan at the time, laid the foundations for GILERA. Not long afterwards, he relocated the company to Arcore. In the post-war period following the First World War, GILERA began producing 500 cc motorbikes with side valves, which quickly gained a reputation by winning some of the most prestigious international racing competitions.
The 1950s marked a high point in GILERA's success story, when the company dominated the motorsport world with its four-cylinder 500 cc machines. During this golden era, GILERA won a number of notable honours, including six drivers' titles and three world championships, as well as the prestigious constructors' title.
In 1969, GILERA was integrated into the Piaggio Group and began a new chapter with a fresh production series and an expanded range that now also included off-road variants. A particular star of this era was the Model 50 Trial 5V, which quickly became a favourite among young motorbike enthusiasts. Over time, GILERA continuously strove for further development. In the early 1990s, Piaggio decided to relocate production to Pontedera. A new milestone was set in the early 2000s, when innovative sports scooter models such as the Runner, the DNA, the Nexus and the GP 800 were introduced.
Despite the discontinuation of production and the removal of the last model from the product catalogue in 2020, the GILERA brand remains alive in the memories of many people, not least because of its significant contribution to motorbike history.

Our online exploded views for scooters make it much easier for you to find the right part. Each item is assigned exactly to the corresponding vehicle, with year of manufacture and chassis number. From our Expo lists, you can navigate directly to the spare parts, where a photo and a description are then available for almost every part. Conversely, you can also navigate from the item detail to the corresponding exploded view.
