In the following, we will go into the different models of the Modern Vespa and present the range of brakes at SIP Scootershop. We also list the most important manufacturers for brakes, brake pads, brake discs, brake cylinders and much more for the Modern Vespa. How do I find the right parts for the brakes on my Modern Vespa?
Here you are in the large section for brakes for the Modern Vespa. To narrow down the selection of products even further, you can now select the exact type of vehicle for which you are looking for brake parts. For example, if you are interested in everything that concerns the models "Vespa GT/GTL/GTS/GTV 125-200", then make this selection and the display will be much more specific and tailored to you. Using the filters in the left navigation, you can also sort by "brands", "use" and other criteria. If you remove the vehicle type filter, e.g. "Vespa GT/GTL/GTS/GTV 125-200", the entire range for the Modern Vespa vehicle category is displayed. This is always helpful if you are unsure of the vehicle type of the scooter you are riding.
The different models at Modern Vespa
Vespa ET2/ET4 50
The front brake system, also well known from the ZIP models, is rock solid and offers plenty of room for improvement and modification. At the rear, the Ø 110 mm drum brake provides sufficient braking power.
Vespa ET4 125-150
Like the smaller 50cc models, the ET4 125/150 has a solid braking system that has plenty to offer in terms of conversions and modifications.
Vespa GT/GTL/GTS/GTV 125-200
Since the GT/GTL model of 2003, there have been hardly any changes to the front and rear disc brake system. The biggest innovation was the ABS, which was optional from 2014 and has been standard since the Euro4 models of 2017.
Vespa GTS/GTS Super/GTV/GT60 250-300
The GTS 250 was the first Vespa with ABS on the market, which was not yet fully developed at the time. In the meantime, the 300 models are equipped with a decent ABS as standard. Otherwise, the braking system is largely the same as on the much slower 125-200 cc models.
Vespa LX/LXV/S 50
The brake system of the Vespa ET2/ET4 worked so well that it was also transferred to the later LX/LXV/S models.
Vespa LX/LXV/S 125-150
The 125-150 cc LX/LXV/S models also use the braking system of their predecessors, a real update of the front disc brake and rear drum brake was not necessary.
Vespa Primavera/Sprint 50
Since the end of the 90s PIAGGIO has kept the disc brake system of the ET2/ET4, so it is also used on the Primavera/Sprint. Even the 110 mm drum brake is still inserted here.
Vespa Primavera/Sprint/946 125-150
PIAGGIO still uses the rear drum brake on the Primavera/Sprint models. However, compared to the 50 cc models, there is an upgrade in the Ø, so here the 140 mm brake shoes are used. The front disc brake is rock-solid, and has been optional since 2013 and equipped with ABS as standard since the Euro4 models.

Brake pads & brake shoes
We distinguish between brake pads for disc brakes and brake shoes for drum brakes. To make it easier to distinguish, we have divided the brake pads into types, e.g. S10, S11, based on their dimensions. Brake shoes are installed on the cheaper scooters or on the rear wheel.
Brake hoses & replacement parts
The original brake hoses are usually only made of rubber. The steel braided brake hoses are high-tech and the ones from SPIEGLER even have TÜV approval. The scooter can be customised with different colours for the lines and connections.
Brake discs & adaptors
Along with brake pads and brake shoes, brake discs are the wear parts par excellence. They come in many diameters, hole patterns and shapes. The more holes, recesses or corrugated shape, the better the cooling. Floating bearings ensure even better braking performance. Oversize brake discs also have a super braking effect and are usually supplied with a matching adaptor. Many brake discs are also available with homologation.
Brake callipers & seating
Everything your heart desires: whether original brake calipers, CNC-manufactured radial brakes or mighty BREMBO pliers - you'll find it all here.
Brake master cylinder & adaptor
Braking performance also depends on the respective brake master cylinder. If it is not really compatible with the brake calliper and line, the biggest brake calliper will be of no use. We have brake master cylinders for every application.
Converting to a radial brake caliper
By using a radial brake calliper, you can achieve the braking values of a modern sports motorbike. With the appropriate adaptors / axle seating, the Modern Vespa can easily be converted to radial calipers.

Customers ask - SIP answers
"How often do I need to change my brake fluid?"
As brake fluids are hygroscopic, they draw water over time and deteriorate the braking performance up to total failure of the brake system. Therefore, the brake fluid should be checked with a suitable tester at every inspection and replaced every two years at the latest.
