Exhaust systems 50 ccm stroke 43 mm - for Vespa Smallframe & Ape at SIP Scootershop
Next to the choice of cylinders, the choice of the right exhaust is the most important decision for the engine design. The larger the displacement, the larger the exhaust volume. The larger the volume, the higher the peak power. We have the right exhaust systems for all applications and engine groups.
Different engine and vehicle types
Basically, the following engine and vehicle types can be distinguished:
Vespa 50/N/L/R/S/Special/SR/SS: Exhaust mounting via M10 thread in the engine block and on exhaust studs M6 / 52mm hole spacing, on the V50 SR/SS M8 / 52 hole spacing. On the V50 Special Elestart, the side luggage compartment on the frame must be modified for bananas/curlys.
Vespa PK50/S/SS/XL/XL2/XLS/HP/FL/N/Rush: Exhaust mounting via nut on exhaust and on exhaust stud M6 / 52mm hole spacing. On all PKs the side frame plate must be modified to fit Curlys/Lefthands.
Vespa PK50 S/SS/XL N Automatica/Plurimatic: Here only standard and SITO Plus systems fit. However, since there is only one 75cc racing cylinder, the SITO Plus is also completely sufficient.
A rough distinction
The space for an exhaust is limited on the Vespa. The more powerful the cylinders, the more volume the exhaust needs. The following is a brief overview:
Standard exhaust: No performance increase, can be used legally in road traffic. Are mounted on exhaust ports.
Racing exhaust - Righthand: The muffler is placed under or behind the engine. Mounting of the spare wheel always possible.
Racing exhaust- Lefthand: The exhaust body passes the rear wheel on the left. The muffler partly disappears under the kick plate. The large volume results in a decent power boost. On PK's the side plate has to be modified. Lefthands are also available for the high-end cylinders with large exhaust/ stud hole spacing.
For the Smallframe there are some additional variants
Standard exhaust - banana: Originally fitted to Vespa 50 SR/SS/90 R/SS/125 PV ET3/ PK125 ETS. Good touring exhaust on the other classic V50/90/100/125/PV.
Racing exhaust - banana: Perfect fit, good price-performance ratio, available for all 4 Smallframe switch scooter classes, visually inconspicuous. The body disappears under the left side bonnet. On PK models, the spare wheel must then give way.
Racing exhaust - Down & Forward: The exhaust body passes the rear wheel on the left. The muffler comes out diagonally under the kick plate on the right in the direction of travel.
Racing exhaust- 180°: To be able to ride the system, the cylinder must be mounted rotated by 180° so that the outlet points in the direction of travel. Not for beginners, but spectacular and with a lot of power.
Racing exhaust - Curly: Powerful racing exhaust systems that only fitcurled under the frame because of their large body. On the classic Smallframes Vespa 50-125/PV/ET3, modifications to the side panel are necessary on the V50 Special V5B3T/Elestart/PV/ET3 models. On all PK models, the side panel must be modified. Therefore, the model assignment is only limited to those models where no frame modifications are necessary and the standard cylinder also fits from the connection: Vespa 90/R/SS/100/125 VMA1T. The exhaust bracket is designed for PK and V50/PV/ET3 engines.
Hall of Fame - some of our exhaust brands
We do not include every exhaust on the market in our programme, but concentrate on the essentials, and yet the variety is enormous:
SITO: Good and inexpensive standard exhausts. The SITO Plus is a classic among road racing exhausts.
PINASCO/MALOSSI/POLINI/LEOVINCE: Developed decades ago, tried and tested for decades. Good and reasonably priced sports racing exhaust systems. Tinny sound, high revs, visually inconspicuous.
SIMONINI: High-end power systems with a great price-performance ratio. Available as Lefthand, Down & Forward or 180°.
JL/JOLLY MOTO/GPS/POLINI/... Many larger and smaller tuning companies try their hand at high-end exhaust systems. Many are fads and disappear after a season, some establish themselves. We have compiled a list of all those that are currently in vogue, have a unique selling point compared to others, and for which supplies and possible warranty claims are also assured.
PARMAKIT/QUATTRINI/FALC: High-end systems with fat manifolds and for wide hole spacing of the stud bolts. The Italian arms race is reflected here.
The following applies to all racing exhaust systems: Unless otherwise indicated, only for racing or exhibition purposes. Not permitted in the German Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO), i.e. consultation with the local TÜV office is necessary.
