Glorious Basterd - Life begins with 12". Weeks of development and many, many prototypes were necessary to develop a conventional solution for the Vespa community. Problems such as toe, steering behaviour and frame clearance were successfully solved. The result is a better chassis quality due to better ground clearance and optimised straight-line stability. In addition, the 12" wheels are an absolute eye-catcher and extend the gear ratio.
Many have tried to implement this monster conversion and failed due to the technical finesse. We were therefore particularly proud that we were able to take the next step in the chassis sector with the Customshow Ried 2010 and the "Glorious Basterd" custom project presented there.

The components of the 12" GTS front conversion
SIP conversion steering column
For the front we offer, depending on the model, converted conversion steering columns. Fork steerer, steering lock, steering stop and especially the head tube have been adapted.
The steering columns are available for:
Shock absorber
All shock absorbers of the Vespa PX80-150X/P200E/PX80-200E/Lusso/T5 can be used as shock absorbers.
We recommend the SIP Performance shock absorbers 2.0 or 2.0 Race and have listed two of them as examples in this group.
However, a special shock absorber base plate is required to compensate for a 16 mm offset.
Speedometer
A mechanical speed pick-up is not possible due to the changed ÜV ratio of speedometer worm to speedometer gearing! We therefore recommend our SIP speedometer with digital speed pick-up!
Mounting kit conversion steering column 12"
The mounting kit is perfect for those who do not want to worry about the individual parts required for a 12" steering column conversion. The kit includes a complete steering head bearing set incl. dust cover shell, the axle seating incl. small parts, front wheel hub with small parts and other parts such as nuts, bearings and spacers.
Rim GTS 12"
One of the most spectacular things about the conversion. The GTS spoke rim on a classic Vespa. The large assortment of SIP GTS rims also results in an amazing look on a classic Vespa.
For the sake of clarity, we have only included a few SIP rims in the group. All 12" GTS rims fit in the front. Here is an overview of all GTS rims.
Tyres 120/70-12
In general, all tyres of size 120/70-12 can be used in the front and rear. The Heidenau K61 and K80 are test winners in various magazines. The new SIP tyres are very popular. Don't forget the valve insert for all tyres!

Brake calliper
We recommend the SIP CNC brake callipers. They have a brake piston diameter of 31.5 mm and thus guarantee optimum braking characteristics. They are available in many anodised colour variations.
All S10 brake pads fit as replacement pads. For the sake of clarity, we have only included a few variants in this group.
Brake disc
All brake discs for Vespa PX 125-200 E '98/MY/'11 can be used as brake discs. Again, we have only put some of the brake discs here. An overview of all possible brake discs can be found at the Brake discs for Vespa PX 125-200 E '98/MY/'11.
An alternative to the "SIP Basterd" conversion
With the SIP PERFORMANCE front wheel hub, PX models with disc brake or PX steering columns can easily be converted to the PIAGGIO 12" rims. The wheel hub is made of ERGAL aluminium 7075 T6 and is supplied from the factory with high-quality bearings. The wheel hub is "Made in Italy" and can be exchanged for the standard PX 98/MY brake drum without further modifications. The 5-hole brake discs of the PX models can be used as well as all PIAGGIO/SIP/ZELIONI rims with 5-hole seating.
Assembly note: The smaller 11" rims can also be used with this wheel hub. The central hole diameter of the 11" rims must be turned out to 43 mm in order to be able to mount e.g. the LX/Primavera rims.

Rear brake drum
A Vespa PX engine is required at the rear. After all, you don't want to drive a Ferrari with a Beetle engine. The brake drum is based on a 30x47x6 mm drive shaft oil seal, i.e. engines with an internal oil seal can use it without any problems. On PX engines with a 27 mm oil seal, the driveshaft oil seal must be replaced with a 30x47x6 oil seal. In addition, the engine must be converted to wide tyres (engine offset to the right) due to the wide wheels. A suitable spacer to compensate for the wheel contact point offset is included in the scope of delivery.
The simpler version of the 12" GTS conversion - only for 110/70-12" Tyres
If you are satisfied with a 110/70-12" Tyre, you can also carry out a simpler version of the 12" conversion. The Brake Drum is replaced by a Wheel Hub (front). The prerequisite is a 20 mm front Disc Brake from PIAGGIO/LML/GRIMECA. At the rear, a Drum Brake Seating with matching brake drum replaces the original.

Tyre 110/70-12"
Both are also available with modified PIAGGIO rim
SIP TIP: Do not forget the front rim, tyre, brake calliper, shock absorber base plate (16 mm offset) and brake disc. The mounting kit includes all the necessary small parts for installation! We recommend tyre size 120/70-12 at the front and rear!
