FERODO - Brakes and more from Doncaster, UK
In 1897 Herbert Frood began manufacturing brakes for horse-drawn vehicles. In 1905 he founded the Herbert Frood Company in North Derbyshire. He was a pioneer in brakes, revolutionising function and materials. After successfully patenting his inventions, he changed the name of the company to FERODO Ltd. and his company was listed on the London Stock Exchange in 1920.
Since then, FERODO has supplied racing teams and has been involved in countless successes. Even when Juan Fangio won the Formula 1 World Championship in 1951, he used FERODO brake pads. In 1964, the company entered rallying and promptly won the Monte Carlo race. In 1969, the largest test centre in the world was opened in Chapel-en-le-Frith in England. In 1998 FERODO was bought by the US group Federal-Mogul and at the same time FEDORO Racing was founded in Mondovi, Italy.
