BITUBO - Two tubes write history
BITUBO was founded in 1963 by Scipione Mardollo and he started producing shock absorber systems for oceanic platforms, ship engines, prosthetic limbs. In 1975, Mardollo conquered the motorbike market with an innovation: a pair of shock absorbers connected by two rubber compensation hoses - hence the name "Bitubo" ("two hoses"). The first racers relied on these shock absorbers and already in 1979 E. Lazzarini won the world championship in the 50 cc class. The names Dirk Raudies, Alex Zanardi, Jason Crump, Sam Lowes or Chaz Davies have since been closely associated with BITUBO and stand for great successes in motorsport. In 2016, Michael Dunlop won the Isle of Man Senior TT Championship and set a new lap record. Best performances and championships can be celebrated regularly in various classes - of course all with equipment from BITUBO.
»Bitubo: 100 % old-school, the must-have for every retro racer. Improved handling for (almost) every car model, safe and with TÜV.«
–André Jueterbock, SIP Product Development
Since 1993, the shock absorbers can be recognised by their external compensation chamber, which makes BITUBO unique. The Italians can register various patents and have been a supplier to Piaggio since 1986. Many of their shock absorbers have TÜV approval in Germany and can be installed immediately, because BITUBO has been recognised by the KBA as a company that receives ABE certification since 2010. Plug & Play is therefore standard with most shock absorbers from BITUBO.
In the following we list the different shock absorbers for Modern Vespas:
GEV: Front sports shock absorber with 12 mm piston rod, gas-assisted, spring preload continuously adjustable, compression stage 12-way adjustable, with external expansion reservoir permanently attached to the shock absorber.
MEV: Front sports shock absorber with 14 mm piston rod, gas pressure assisted, spring preload continuously adjustable, compression stage 12-way adjustable, with external compensation reservoir permanently attached to the shock absorber.

GEV "Black Edition": Limited version with 12 mm piston rod, gas-assisted, spring preload continuously adjustable, pressure stage 12-fold adjustable, with external expansion tank permanently attached to the shock absorber. Exclusively available from SIP Scootershop.
YZB: Rear sports shock absorber, dual spring system, with 12 mm piston rod and adjustable spring preload.
YXB: Rear racing shock absorber, gas pressure assisted, separating piston for oil and nitrogen, double spring system, with 12 mm piston rod and adjustable spring preload.
WMB: Rear pair of shock absorbers (stereo), especially for touring applications, gas pressure assisted, separating piston for oil and nitrogen, spring preload continuously adjustable. Progressively wound springs allow a comfortable response when braking, riding with luggage or in two-man operation, i.e. the spring initially responds very finely and becomes "harder" with further compression/loading.
