Vespa news from the EICMA 2016 Milan

Milan is not only known as a city of fashion, but also among two-wheeler enthusiasts for the EICMA motorbike trade fair. Alongside the Intermot in Cologne, the EICMA (Esposizione internazionale ciclo e motociclo) was the second highlight for motorbike and scooter enthusiasts this year. Of course, the Piaggio Group was also represented and presented some new Vespa models. The rumour mill was already bubbling over a few months earlier: an Italian source claimed that the PX would be given a 4-stroke engine and EURO 4 standard and would continue to be produced. You can now read here what was actually shown at EICMA 2016.

In Milan, Piaggio is focusing on new, bright colours for its Modern Vespa collection for 2017 . The GTS, Primavera and Sprint will soon be available in matt red, yellow or green, among other colours. We suspect that the Vespa is intended to appeal to more young people and inspire them with the Italian Vespa flair. Slight modifications could be recognised on some of the wasps on display:

- on the GTS, the Headset Cover has been slightly changed

- from 125cc upwards, all vehicles fulfil the Euro 4 standard and have automatic start/stop systems

- Shock Absorber Seating at the front is again like on the old models before 2014

- new styling parts (Flyscreen, Horn Cover for GTS) which were allegedly manufactured exclusively for Vespa by RIZOMA

Also Malossi also presented many innovations at the EICMA. For the Vespa, the Italians presented both new Power and VESPower Ignitions as well as exhaust systems and a Crankshaft. These parts are of course available in our webshop.

Some Vespa enthusiasts may be somewhat disappointed by Piaggio's contribution in terms of new Vespas. However, there are already rumours of new GTS models that will be shown at the next trade fair. So we are waiting with bated breath - after the EICMA is before the EICMA!
