Vespa GTS 300 vs. Lambretta X300 - the ultimate comparison test
The Lambretta X300 won the comparison against the Lambretta G350 and the Royal Alloy TG 300, as you can see in detail in this video. Now it's time for the ultimate challenge: the Vespa GTS 300, with Nico riding the tried-and-tested top dog from Piaggio and Jesco taking on the Lambretta X300. The two modern automatic scooters go into battle over eight rounds in the categories Engine, Chassis, Chassis/Brakes, E-Technology, Quality, Dealer/Parts/Placement Parts, Lifestyle/Fashion/X-Factor and Price. May the best one win!
Engine, chassis, brakes and e-technology
In terms of Engine , the two participants went head-to-head and shared this category. It should be noted that neither the Lambretta nor the Vespa have a correct speedometer display. Regardless of what is displayed, the top speed for both is 128 km/h. Conclusion: a draw.
At 174 kilograms, the Lambretta X300 is indeed a heavyweight, while the Vespa is a whole 14 kilograms lighter. Not only does the GTS have clear advantages in this respect, but it can also carry 24 kilograms more payload than the X300, has a larger tank capacity and even a more spacious Glovebox. The GTS 300 therefore takes the win in the chassis category.
In terms of chassis and brakes, our two rivals are actually beaten by the Lambretta G350, but the X300 is also just ahead of the Vespa GTS in this category. The decisive factors here are the shorter braking distance and the better directional stability of the Lambretta.
The GTS 300 can only leave a better impression with the nowadays unavoidable e-technology because the Lambretta beeps too often for Jesco's taste and thus disturbs the peace of mind. A points victory for the GTS 300.
Quality, dealer, lifestyle and price
Both scooters don't exactly cover themselves in glory here, as a lot of plastic and rather inferior quality has been used. It is impossible to judge the wear and tear of the individual parts, as we will only know which way the wind is blowing in a few years' time. In any case, there is no winner in this category.
The Dealer/Parts/Replacement Parts category is hard to judge, as the GTS 300 can rely on the dense network of Vespa dealerships. We also have SIP Scootershop, where you can find everything a GTS rider's heart desires. The Lambretta X300 doesn't stand a chance this time, but that may change in the coming years.
Although Jesco has now become a true friend of the Lambretta X300, he has to agree with Nico when he puts forward cogent arguments in favour of the Vespa GTS 300 in terms of lifestyle/fashion/X-factor. Tradition and history are the GTS's trump cards, while Jesco rates the X300's design more highly. Naturally, opinions differ when it comes to these "soft factors" and there is plenty of room for debate.
The Vespa GTS 300 definitely costs more than the Lambretta X300. Whichever version the customer chooses, they will have to fork out between €6,990 and €7,499 for the GTS, while the X300 is available for as little as €6,759. The Lambretta wins the price category.
