Tachometer/Speedo SIP for Vespa GTS 125-300cc FL models

Created by Ralf Jodl at 10:07 on July 17, 2018

The SIP speedometer / rev counter replaces the standard, very sparsely equipped speedometer with a real multifunctional device. The speedometer impresses with its large analogue display for speed (up to 160kmh) and rpm (up to 16,000 rpm). The speedometer needle thus displays either revolutions per minute or speed.

The lower digital display can show a choice of 18 functions. These can be switched at the touch of a button. In addition to the standard functions such as analogue / digital speed display, trip & total kilometres, temperature, the speedometer has an analogue & digital rev counter, digital fuel and temperature display, accelerometer for distance and speed measurement, average speed and many other features (see function list).

The backlight can be selected from eight different colours. The brightness can also be adjusted separately. Before each restart, the instrument performs a complete self-test. The speed is measured as originally via the speedometer cable or can be transmitted via a digital speed sensor. The appropriate sensors are available as accessories.

A set of cables for connection to the vehicle is included in the scope of delivery. This is connected between the speedometer and the wiring harness. Everything without soldering, simple and uncomplicated.

Enclosed is a functional overview.

The installation is very easy. The cable set from the speedometer is simply connected to the vehicle wiring harness. With this installation variant, the SIP speedometer provides all the information as the standard device does.

If you also want to have the speed and engine temperature displayed, you have to lay two more cables (the original cable harness does not provide the two above-mentioned signals, otherwise we would of course have already integrated them in the cable set). The rev signal is relatively easy to take off (signal comes from the ignition coil). We are particularly proud of the engine temperature display[/b]. On the FL models, this is no longer supplied via the wiring harness. Piaggio has simply left the PIN assignment on the temperature sensor empty ;-).

The speedo comes with a set of cables for the original engine temperature sensor. If this is connected (2 pins, red arrow) and plugged into the speedometer, the left bar display on the speedometer shows the temperature.

The speedometers will be delivered on 27.08. Available in black / silver
