Patina Vespa: the barn find

For some time now, we have been working with the "patina pope" Tore Sambataro on very special parts for old Vespas. Whether it's rims, Shock Absorbers or Grips - each product is hand-finished by Tore using many of his secret tricks to make them look as if they are 50, 60 or even 70 years old. In this way, they later perfectly match the visual appearance of preserved Vespas in their original condition.

Authentic look and hidden power

The available colours in our online shop match the original paints of the specified models very well. But it can also look quite authentic if, for example, the rims of a late Vespa VBB with the "Pigeon Blue" O-lacquer are combined with another O-lacquer.

In this video, our nature boy André shows you how he equips a surprising barn find so that the new parts also perfectly match the patinated look of this old treasure. He starts by fitting parts without patina to the Vespa and realises that the overall appearance of the vehicle suffers as a result. When he then replaces the rims, Grips, Mirrors and Shock Absorbers with the "rusty" and "weathered", i.e. patinated, parts, the 1956 Vespa GS 150 looks exactly as you would expect from a 68-year-old vehicle. At the same time, it is already on brand new Tyres, so that it can also pass the TÜV test without any problems.

Anyone who knows André will have guessed that he is hiding a powerful tuning engine under the "shabby" bodywork. But the look remains from 1956 - this is understatement at its finest ..

Do you have any suggestions for other items that SIP should offer "patinated"? Let us know in the comments below the video! Thank you very much!
