AUGUST 2024
Scooter Run 2024, Sweden

Peter Daun, President of the Visby Vespa Clubsent us some photos and various information about this run in Sweden. Not only was there lively participation and the best weather, but a wedding also took place. We can only congratulate the bride and groom. Peter writes: "Many thanks for sponsoring prizes etc. for our event at the weekend. It was a great success with 130 participants and with well-filled prize tables and everyone also got goodie bags with stuff."
And the local press writes: "This weekend, over 100 scooter enthusiasts gathered on Gotland to take part in the "Swedish Scooter Run 2024". On Friday afternoon, everyone gathered in Visby harbour. Among the many scooter enthusiasts, we also met Thomas and Anna, who are planning to say "I do" during the event.
"Yes, tomorrow is also a big meeting," says Thomas Davidson. "That's when we're getting married. We'll go there by scooter and take a wedding officiant with us."
They'll ride the scooter to the ceremony, and then we'll see if they get off for the actual ceremony or stay on the scooter."
Scooter Rally, Amélie-les-Bains, France

Johanna from the Palmarium Scooter Club sent us the following email: "Review of the Palmarium Scooter Club's rally weekend in Amélie-les-Bains.
The weekend's participants arrived in Amélie-les-Bains on Friday afternoon - with over a hundred scooters and almost two hundred participants. The next day, after an exuberant night of partying, they set off on their traditional ride. During their tour through the Haut-Vallespir, the convoy made a stop in Prats-de-Mollo at the Brasserie Senior Voltor before heading back to Amélie. There, the lucky winners of the weekend were honoured: Best Distance for Nick Robins, who travelled 1500 km from London on his Lambretta Jet 200, Best Club for the SC du Béarn, which had travelled with 15 members, Best Lambretta for a Catalan participant from the south, Best Vespa for David from Perpignan and Best of the Show for another David from the Vespa Club de France.
The event brought together 21 French, Catalan and international clubs in great spirits, with the typical rally atmosphere: music, fantastic food and lots of fun! Thanks again and see you soon at new events!"
11. German Vespa Rally, Giessen

The big event, which was organised by the Vespa Club Giessen organised - a challenging task for the members. After the 38 participants arrived, they first met for a cosy get-together in the clubhouse. On Saturday, the route covered 170 kilometres across central Hesse, with a further 70 kilometres on Sunday. However, only 28 Vespisti took part in this second part. The only starter from Piston, Christoph Kolb, did not take part for the VC Giessen, but for the Vespa Veterans Club Germany. In his first participation in the GVR, he finished 10th in his category and 18th overall.
Andreas Hübbe from Hamburg covered a total of 450 kilometres over two days. He started on his black PX 80 "Lusso" with seven hp and a top speed of 77 km/h. He was particularly impressed with his bike. He was particularly impressed by the numerous "fairytale villages" that the Giessen club had selected for the route. In Rauschenberg, however, his scooter, which he had bought two years ago, went on strike. Four participants from Lehrte stopped to help, but missed part of the competition themselves as a result. They were honoured with the GVR Fair Play Award for their efforts at the award ceremony at Gleiberg Castle.
Around a dozen helpers from the organising club were in constant action. Although there was a lot of praise from the guests at the end, the so-called road book was criticised. Two drivers therefore lodged a protest. At the award ceremony at Gleiberg Castle, the judges came to the conclusion: "The protest is rejected." After the award ceremony, the winners travelled home to great applause.
SEPTEMBER 2024
Trofeo 4, Bärnbach, Austria
Robert Zagar, President of the Vespa Club Köflachprovided us with the following information: "Despite the catastrophic weather conditions throughout Austria - there was even a disaster warning - the Trofeo Köflach took place as planned. The 125 starters set off on a 165-kilometre race from Bärnbach in the direction of Graz, where they were timed at the famous Schwarzenegger Museum.
Other items on the programme included a visit to a hydroelectric power station dating back to 1870, a Vespa dealer in Graz and a gin distillery. The finish took place between 17 and 18 Clock. As always, the gala dinner and awards ceremony took place in the Festsaal in Bärnbach - probably the only event in Europe where the Gear Pulleys are allowed to stand next to the participants in the Festsaal. There were mainly riders from Austria, Germany and Switzerland, with two V98s also taking part. One of the main prizes went to Oli Jewellery from SIP Scootershop. The Hoffmann racing team from Bad Homburg had the most participants."
Dolce vita en champagne, Reims, France

The ride was organised by the Vespa Club The Monkeys from Reims. However, the Vespas not only received fresh petrol, but also a divine blessing, which was worth a report in the local press: "It was an unusual ceremony that took place on the forecourt of Reims Cathedral on Sunday morning. Pastor Maxime Labesse blessed around fifty Vespa scooters belonging to riders who had travelled from far and wide. During the Sunday mass, the young priest stood in front of each scooter and its owner, armed with a holy water font and holy water duster, and sang hymns of praise. He then explained: "Christ gathers those who were scattered. The means of transport enable people to overcome the distances that separate them and to come together. Let us ask the Lord together to bless and guide your paths with your Vespas!"
In the city of Reims, where numerous kings have been crowned, some Vespa owners from Belgium, Portugal and even Sicily have now also received the blessing. The "City of Coronations" was the ideal place for such an initiative."
3a Trobada, Figueres, Spain
The 3rd meeting of scooter riders from Catalonia in Figueres, Spain, was also well attended. The announced 150 registrations were quickly filled. The best thing to do is to watch this Video to get an insight into this event. In any case, the Scooteristes Catalunya put on quite a show and the atmosphere was apparently excellent.
10 years of Li Vespi Asasìni, Guastalla, Italy

On Sunday, 1 September, the tenth anniversary of the independent group "Li Vespi Asasìni", which attracted numerous participants with their vehicles and Vespas. The event was open to all types of vehicles, both historic and modern, including Vespa, LML, Lambretta and Ape. On Sunday morning, from 9:00 Clock, participants arrived in Piazza Mazzini in Guastalla from all directions and registration began immediately. The square gradually filled up with colourful vehicles, creating a truly special atmosphere.
At around 10:30 Clock, everyone got on their vehicles to complete the 40-kilometre drive through the surrounding villages, which finally ended at the "Ruote da Sogno" company. The space reserved for the event quickly filled up and the participants had the opportunity to view the large exhibition of cars and motorbikes from the Reggio Emilia-based company, which is known for the variety and rarity of some of its vehicles. Afterwards, the "Ruote da Sogno" team served a sumptuous aperitif in the event hall, while President Nicola Iori presided over the award ceremony on stage.
President Nicola Iori said: "We are not an official Vespa club, but a group of motoring enthusiasts who are above all addicted to the fantastic universe of the Vespa. This meeting was born in 2014, at a time when Vespa meetings were not very common. As president of this group, I would like to thank above all Ruote da Sogno, who made it possible for us to celebrate this anniversary in style, as well as all our sponsors and partners, including SIP Scootershop. Many thanks to all those who believed in us and supported us so actively in the organisation of the event and the award ceremonies."
Vespa Giro Speciale, Hungary

Ferenc Horváth, the chairman of the Veteran Vespa Club Hungarywrites to us: "The "Vespa Giro Speciale" was a real journey back in time to the motorbike races of the 1950s-60s, when the Vespa celebrated many successes with its outstanding performance! Only traditional, switchable and 2-stroke Vespas were allowed to take part in the event, with a limited number of participants. The race travelled through Hungary, Austria and Slovenia. Along the way, the participants were able to get to know their own mental strength as well as the technical condition of their Vespas and, if necessary, make improvements.
The real challenge, however, was the changeable weather and difficult terrain. On narrow, unpaved roads but in breathtaking surroundings - along streams and waterfalls, through mountains and valleys, forests and fields - the team covered almost 700 kilometres in three days. However, some participants exceeded the requirements by arriving at the starting point on foot, which enabled them to cover thousands of kilometres.
In summary, the "Vespa Giro Speciale" was a communal experience characterised by the excitement of competition, cultural and culinary delights and the deepening of acquaintances and genuine friendships. It was simply about "riding a Vespa"!

OCTOBER 2024
13. Scooter Run to the Hills, Spain

Marc sent us a great report: Around 125 scooters from all over Catalonia and France met up in Santa Eugènia de Berga, a town around 60 km north of Barcelona, on the first weekend in October. The 13th "Scooter Run to the Hills", organised by the Santaeupheniacs Scooter Clubbegan on Friday afternoon with the first registrations, a welcome dinner and an all-night party with top scooter DJs from the scene.
On Saturday, the event continued at 9 Clock with further registrations and a traditional "Catalan breakfast". Around midday, we set off on a 70-kilometre ride to the most striking places in the region. Halfway along the route, we stopped at a local craft beer brewery to enjoy beer and vermouth. At 3 Clock we had a typical Catalan lunch in a good restaurant for all participants, followed by the distribution of souvenirs and a raffle with prizes from our main sponsors.
The day was far from over, as a concert with two ska & punk bands started at 7 Clock, and at 10 Clock the last all-night party of the weekend started with top scooter DJs and our favourite sounds.
The weekend ended on Sunday morning with a small breakfast for all scooter boys & girls ... it's called "Now starts the scooter run".
That's it, boys & girls! See you next year in Santa Eugènia de Berga for the 14th "Scooter Run to the Hills".
NOVEMBER 2024
Indian Summer Scooter Rally, Richmond, Virginia, USA

Dan Barton from the 7 Hills Scooter Club sent us an email, which we were very pleased to receive: "On behalf of the 7 Hills Scooter Club, I would like to express our sincere gratitude for your continued support of our annual Indian Summer Scooter Rally in Richmond, VA. Your generosity and dedication were invaluable in making this year another memorable event. I would also like to extend a special thank you to Mascha Harris, not only for her support this year, but for her support in years past. Mascha's insert, enthusiasm and dedication have really made a difference and we really appreciate everything she has done for us.
Please accept our apologies for the delay in sending these lines of thanks. It's been quite turbulent after the rally, but we didn't want to miss the opportunity to let you know how much your support means to us. We hope the photos will make you smile and give you an insight into the vibrant community that comes together thanks to your partnership. The theme of this year's rally was "Prom!" The pictures are from our meeting point, the rides, the gymkhana and the actual prom, where the raffle also took place. Thank you again for being such an integral part of our event success. We look forward to continuing this wonderful collaboration in the future.
Mulled wine get-together, Straubing

Harald Trautwein from the board of the Vespafreunde Straubing writes: As in 2023, we accepted Raphael and Stefan's offer to hold our regulars' table in the Hubertushalle in Straubing. As in 2023, we decided to donate the proceeds to the Bettina Bräu Foundation. For this event, 50 members and relatives gathered in the Hubertushalle. The ambience of this hall was perfect for the event.
To create the desired relaxed atmosphere, Halsgrat Iberico, Käsekrainer and pork sausages were sold from the Grill. Jörg Fischer and Harald Trautwein were very committed to this. Of course, the delicious mulled wine and punch were also sold and served here. Strengthened, we then went from the barbecue area to the restaurant area in the Hubertushalle. Here, Tom Rösner took the reins for the auction. Tom auctioned off the sponsored goods skilfully and with a good portion of sales talent.
The Road 3.0 Exhaust from SIP Scootershop was a big highlight. Thanks to the company for the sponsorship, also on behalf of the Bettina-Bräu-Stiftung. Thanks also to all the helpers from the Vespafreunde Straubing club, who made a significant contribution to the success of the event. A donation of €600 from the net proceeds was transferred to the Bettina Bräu Foundation. A small success, last year it was €500. And an incentive to do even better in 2025. We look forward to 2025!
