EICMA 2023: Lambretta, Italjet, Pinasco & Co
In our first report from EICMA 2023, our reporter Jesco took a close look at everything to do with the new Sprint and Primavera Vespa models. In this article, he looks at the competition from Lambretta, finds an old acquaintance with more power at Italjet and takes a look at the tuning experts from Pinasco, Malossi and Polini.
Lambretta Elettra, G350 Sport Edition and more
The hottest news is certainly that the Lambretta is now also being connected to the power grid. The Elettra model is due to be launched in 2024. With a top speed of 110 km/h, it plays in the premier league, but the range of 127 kilometres can only be achieved at a rather leisurely 45 km/h. If you drive at a constant 80 km/h, you can still cover 60 kilometres. Meanwhile, the charging time is still more than five hours. Exactly how much this Lambretta will cost is still written in the stars.
The Casa Performance model, which Jesco also likes, is much more concrete: the G350 Sport Edition offers the most powerful engine currently available from Lambretta, thanks to tuning by the professionals at Casa Lambretta. New Scorpion Exhaust, overhauled Disc Brake and suspension. Micky from Casa Lambretta also told Jesco that they had worked with an expert to programme a new mapping for the Engine. The projectile is not yet available in Europe, but we'll stay tuned.
Otherwise, there were models on display that have been around for a while, such as the V200.
An old acquaintance at Italjet
It's best if we just let Jesco tell us: "The latest version of the Italjet Dragster 559 Twin has a kind of motorbike chassis. I still know the car from last year, but the Engine has been changed. It now has two Cylinders with 58 hp and is therefore adequately motorised. Production is due to start in 2024 and the dragster will cost between 13,000 and 15,000 euros, but for that you get a very interesting machine and a real eye-catcher. The engine has 550 cc and is manufactured in China by the same company that produces the 300 GTS engine for Piaggio. And it is exactly the same Engine that is in the 300 Dragster from Italjet. All the tuning parts that are also used on the GTS can therefore be fitted. This dragster costs around 6,500 euros."
News from Pinasco and Malossi
Jesco says: "Malossi seems to be concentrating more on the automatic scooters at the moment and offers nothing new for the Gear Pulley. There is a gearbox for the PX that was presented a while ago but is now ready for production. As always, Pinasco is the most active and presents a number of innovations. Very interesting is a 244 cc Cylinder, of which there was only the prototype to be seen last year. Now it has a one-piece exhaust and a large port with the option of a direct intake. The Cylinder makes quite a good impression. They also show a new Crankcase and a new Driveshaft. Furthermore, seats for Vespa and Lambretta from their label Gori. Unfortunately, that's almost it. I also discovered an exciting chassis from Taiwan, but I can't say any more about that at the moment. I'll say goodbye for now and let you know if there's any more news."
