Custom Vespa "Explorer" by Vespuci & Hammerstout
Inspired by the Singer Vehicle Design Company's 1990s 911 Porsche conversion, Hammerstout and Vespuci created a unique custom Vespa. The idea was to do something completely new and unusual and build the Vespa with a vintage rally look. The German word "Forscher" was chosen as the title for the collaboration.
The basis for the conversion is the Vespa LX 150 with the handlebar unit of the LXV models and repositioned headlight on the leg shield and fog light on the fork. The idea for the handlebar conversion was based on the Vespa Sport "Sei Giorni" from 1951, which won various gold medals at the 6-day race in Varese, Italy.
A Vespa for off-road use
One of the most noticeable modifications is the cleared frame with closed indicator openings. The lighting has been completely converted to LED. In addition to the front and fog lights, LED handlebar end turn signals and the white SIP LED tail light have been fitted. The rear spoiler from SOCA and the red grips from Bubur Ayam Racer underline the sporty character of the Vespa.
But it's not just the look of the Vespa that is supposed to be reminiscent of a rally vehicle, it's also supposed to feel like one. The standard rims were replaced by the larger 12" rims of the Sprint and fitted with off-road tyres. BITUBO shock absorbers at the front and rear serve as the chassis, the rear lowering and the ergonomic brake levers come from FABRICA in Indonesia.
In terms of performance, there have been some modifications, for example, the drivetrain has been modified with sports variators including a sports clutch and bell. The exhaust is the LeoVince GP Corsa Carbon, which is ideal for racing purposes due to its low weight.
The collaboration between Hammerstout and Vespuci not only resulted in the Vespa, but also in the launch of a fashion collection under the name of "Explorer" in the form of a waterproof jacket. Jacket and trousers on the market.
