Amerivespa 2023: Flagstaff, Arizona
Amerivespa is the US Vespa scooter rally sponsored by the Vespa Club of America (VCOA). Each year, the VCOA asks local clubs that are willing and able to compete for the chance to co-host this great event. This year, scooter fans will gather in Flagstaff, Arizona, the "Gateway to the Grand Canyon" from 01 to 04 June. In addition to the VCOA, the Phoenix Scooter Club, Lions of Scoodah and the South Bay Scooter Club will be involved in organising the meeting in 2023.
Amerivespa invites all scooter riders to celebrate, no matter what they ride. Classic or modern, Vespa, Lambretta, Heinkel, Fuji, Cushman, Kymco, Honda and all other scooters are welcome. The Amerivespa is usually a four-day event that includes a get-together with friends, local rides, a sales exhibition, a scooter concours, skill competitions, an awards ceremony and banquet, and a raffle with great prizes. And of course, SIP Scootershop won't miss the opportunity to support this outstanding event.
With the Vespa to the Grand Canyon
Every year, the Amerivespa, the largest scooter gathering in the US, attracts 600-800 Vespa enthusiasts and other scooter riders from all over the United States (and the world!) for a four-day event celebrating all things scooter. If you've always wanted to attend, you should make your plans a reality this year, because Amerivespa in Arizona offers sensational attractions without exaggeration:
Sedona Ride
Sights include Cathedral Rock, views of the Sedona Airport Mesa and the Chapel of the Holy Cross.
Jerome Ride
This winding ride takes you to the ghost mining town of Jerome. Attractions include the Gold King Mine Museum and Ghost Town, Sliding Jail, etc. Suggestion for lunch: the oldest restaurant in all of Arizona, "Bobby D's BBQ".
Vintage Ride to Mormon Lake
Bring your mobile phone or sat nav as this is a self-guided ride to Slide Rock State Park (pack a bathing suit!).
Wupatki Pueblo National Monument Ride
The ride goes to Wupatki Pueblo, with stops at Sunset Crater / Cinder Hills Overlook and Painted Desert Vista.
Snowbowl / Aspen Loop Ride
Ride to the Snowbowl/Aspen Loop Trail. The Aspen Loop Trail passes through a magnificent landscape of aspen forests. The Snowbowl chairlift will take you to the west side of the San Francisco Peaks and up to 11,500 feet! From here you'll have great views of Sedona's red rocks, the Cinder Cone Volcanic Field and the Grand Canyon.
Lowell Observatory
A short drive to the nearby world famous Lowell Observatory (this is where Pluto was discovered through the telescope!). We are met by volunteers from the local astronomy club/observatory who offer tours of the observatory and have telescopes ready for us.

The Grand Canyon Tour
The absolute highlight of this year's Amerivespa. Please read all the details about this trip and sign the waiver! But you don't have to abandon all hope right away, because the organisers have provided a special video to prepare you for this tour. All info below.
Participants can spend two hours exploring the Grand Canyon South Rim Visitor Center. Then it's on to the Grand Canyon South Rim Road and beyond, finally looping back to the hotel. Those who wish can stay longer and make their own way back. Please make sure your scooter is in good condition for this ride. A minimum of 150cc or more is recommended.
Route 66 & Historic Flagstaff Ride
The ride will take you to various points of interest in Flagstaff, including the Zane Gray Ballroom, a photo op with the scooters at the Route 66 sign in the Railroad District, Heritage Square, Hotel Monte Vista, Route 66 mural on Phoenix Ave and Western Hills Motel Neon Sign. The ride ends at the "Pizzicletta" restaurant, voted the best pizzeria in Flagstaff.
