25 HP Vespa Smallframe - EGIG engine for everyone
After Elvis proved to us in the videos about the construction of the "Chaos Ciao" that he has a lot of talent but little success, he gets to screw with a real celebrity in this video: Erich "Egig" Oberpertinger from EGIG PERFORMANCE is at his side to tackle the project "Smallframe for everyone". This involves the use of many fine parts developed in Erich's laboratories in South Tyrol.
"It is a plug & play project. Nothing has to be modified during assembly, and the frame does not usually have to be trimmed during installation either," explains Erich, and Elvis adds: "With this concept, anyone can assemble an engine with about 25 hp. We only use new parts for the engine, but you can also use original parts that you still have in the garage. So you get a powerful engine at a reasonable price." (You'll find the full parts list linked below.) But the engine not only makes impressive power, it's also reliable and durable. Erich sent a buddy on a 1976 Vespa 50 with this engine through half of Europe: 5,400 kilometres - stress test passed.

Working with the professional is like baking pretzels for Elvis. The individual steps are explained in an understandable way and Erich assumes that anyone can assemble this engine in about a day. Now and then small parts disappear, which Erich attributes to Pumuckl, but all in all the two are spared any major mishaps or even catastrophes. For Elvis, this is a completely unusual way of working, especially since he also learns when and where an impact wrench may be used. And because he is so willing to learn and attentive, he is rewarded with beer, South Tyrolean bacon and Schüttelbrot bread during the break before going to the test bench - souvenirs from our generous guest.
The truth is on the test bench
At the third kick, the engine starts and André is already waiting at the SIP test stand to check the theory in practice. Earmuffs on - full throttle. Then an anxious glance at the screen: 24.6 hp. Bingo! Various tests with different exhaust systems and setups follow. The boys are highly satisfied and rightly congratulate each other. "That was like assembling a Lego engineering set," Elvis exults. All that's missing now is the right frame to put the engine to use at the Matscho Karatscho in July. "It was fascinating for me to experience that projects can also be brought to a successful conclusion. That motivates me for the future," Elvis says with a grin at the end.
