Cement racetracks, with their typical steep bends, provide an outstandingly beautiful backdrop for races with classic scooters. After the unforgettable race in Darmstadt a few years ago, Raphael Knespel has set himself the flag of organising a cement track race in Bavaria for the first time in 2024.

The date was set remarkably early on and Raphael had already started to drum up support the previous year. Everyone in the scene was aware of it and so a lot of attention was focussed on the event. First of all: nobody was disappointed! The very first day was characterised by an extraordinarily good atmosphere and the joy of seeing each other again.

The main event day on Saturday then showed the whole spectrum of emotions: After a hangover mood in the morning and initial rain and puddle weather, the skies unexpectedly cleared from midday with warming sunshine. Many spectators turned up and also enlivened the side attractions such as catering, the used parts market and the dynamometer.

We from the SIP Scootershop team sent our Oliver Jewellery into the actual race. André tested the test stand with his racing scooter and Lukas from the shop counter drew the main prize in the raffle. The official test of the "regularity drive" on the oval took place in which the participants had to be exactly in a section of the track only 5 metres long after 10 minutes of racing. There was even a division within this section: only those who were exactly within one (1!) metre of the specified track location were awarded full points. In addition to Olaf Just, who was the day's winner, there was also a second place, two third places and four fourth places.

The drawing of the raffle was the last sporting event on the programme, after which all the tension was gone and everyone turned their attention to the cosy part of the event; in a beer garden-like open-air restaurant, accompanied by traditional Lower Bavarian brass band music, Raphael made the typical Bavarian attitude to life tangible for all the guests.

This exceptionally beautiful early summer day in Niederpöring came to an end with an extremely good mood and the typical beer bliss for some. We would like to thank Raphael Knespel for the invitation and wish him every success with his Vespa service @werliebtderschiebt and the sale of classic cars in the Hubertushalle Straubing. The title "First Bavarian Cement Track Race..." gives us hope that Raphael and his organisation team will organise a sequel in the near future.
